Yeh it is good news, coach worked his magic.  ;)

Pressure on Thommo to keep his spot with young Lyons/Crouch nipping at his heels now.

Happy about this one mate, honestly thought he'd seek other opportunities but great to see a good young footballer stay!

Yeh it is good for us mate, stops the exodus of players a little bit. Phil must have impressed him in their get together.

Mr.Craig

For some reason T Bag disabled comments on the other thread but wanted to point something out to him.

"SO delisting McKernen and Graham to then move a first round draft pick four places backwards just to get another Ruck who cant get a game elsewhere?"

These were the two trades, they were entirely separate of each other...

Adelaide receives Luke Lowden, Kyle Cheney and three round-three draft selections (nos. 43, 47 and 59 overall at the time of trade), Hawthorn receives a round-two draft selection (no.31 overall at the time of trade), a round-three draft selection (no.50 overall at the time of trade) and a round-four draft selection (no.68 overall at the time of trade)

Adelaide receives a round-one draft selection (no.14 overall at the time of trade) and a round-two draft selection (no.35 overall at the time of trade), Geelong receives a round-one draft selection (no.10 overall at the time of trade) and a round-three draft selection (no.47 overall at the time of trade)

Tominator

really don't get why we delisted Battersby... he was our 2nd-highest possession-getter in the SANFL this season, and finished 5th in the B&F. Really thought he had a future. And to cut him after a year, well that's very very tough. Hopefully he'll go back to Sturt and carve out a successful SANFL career if he doesn't get picked up by another AFL club.

Maybe there are concerns over his fitness? He was overlooked at the 2013 NAB Draft and fell to the Rookie Draft, when he was touted as a Top 30 pick; won SA's MVP award at the U18s, and played a full season for Sturt at SANFL level.

Any chance Crows could re-draft him?

If he was a senior listed player to begin with then re-drafting him would make sense, but re-drafting a rookie would be odd.

Strange thing to do to begin with though.

I think the Saints done it with Jason Blake a few years ago? Rookie listed player, delisted and then relisted at the rookie draft.
But at Battersby's age its unlike they will do that. Would be a handy utility at plenty of clubs. Wouldn't mind him as a rookie at the Saints.

Mr.Craig

I think it highlights that even with 18 teams there's some pretty handy players that don't get the opportunity they deserve.

Pretty happy to have one of the best defenders the AFL's seen on our coaching list, very handy pick up.  ;D
