Am I Crazy to leave out #1 & 2 Draft picks ??

With so many kids that look likely is it a mistake to overlook scully and trengrove in favour of martin, barlow, shuey, KT, bastinac, banner, jetta, etc the list goes on and on.

I decided to just pick one of the melb boys but I could use the extra $ to upgrade elsewhere if i ignore them both.  My one worry is are they really the best 2 kids this year ?

Good question.  They will get games, so they're safe.  Are they going to score enough better than guys like Jetta to justify being 50k more expensive?  Dunno.  Hard to guess.  I am taking Scully at the moment but not Trengove, as a kind of compromise position I guess, but am considering swapping Scully down to Jetta and using the money elsewhere

In arguably the worst team. Suggesting that perhaps this may limit their scores even if they are the best. They should then have job security, but accompanied by a slower ripening of these rookies.

Would be interesting to look at some of the previous top drafts in lousy teams for evidence.

martin and barlow is apparently the done thing at the moment
you need to consider the purpose for which you have rookies, you need to structure your team to ensure a price rise in the first 8 rounds which enables you to upgrade your rookies for a gun. Unless you plan on having any rookie as a keeper a la liam anthony then you will look to upgrade at an appropriate time in the first ten rounds, injury permitting
Martin and Barlow look set to rise quicker, given scully and trengove are in a team already lacking colin sylvia. Oh and on that note what chances do you give Grimes of copping a tag this year?

That's the exact quandry I'm having as well.

Personally I think Trengove will be the most ready come round one out of the 2 (his pre-season scores would indicate that) but Scully seems to be figuring it out slowly, at least thats what his pre-season games indicate. But pre-season games count for nought once Round 1 starts.

Personally I've got Moles, Martin, Barlow and Banner and I'm trying to figure out if I want Trengove/Scully/Jetta for my last midfield spot or if I want a 300-350 midfielder instead.

Cale Morton and Rhys Palmer say hi.  So does Marc Murphy.  I can't remember how Gibbs went but Pagan stuffed him into a back pocket so it doesn't really count.

I don't think it matters terribly much in DT for mids, win or lose; supercoach it's more of an issue if a mid will regularly have no good options to kick to, but not in DT!

Add a poll. Seems theres alot willing to pick one but not the other...

Personally I dont know enough about either of them to justify spending the extra 50k but it seems obvious yeah?

Im punting on the 5 rookie mids this year so obviously the slow ripener becomes a perfect option!

Would do it myself but you probably should get the glory!

I've got Trengrove, Martin, Barlow and Jetta. I think you go well to have at least one of them. same with martin. Thay may be in a shower team but you will avoid 0's. at the end of the day as long as they are posting half decent scores they will rise and fulfil their purpose.

I havent got either.  You could argue that given their higher price tag, their value could rise to an upgradeable level faster, though like many others I'm preferring the idea of having that extra 50-60k to spend elsewhere. No Barlow or Martin = Braindead however
