One question...

Why does Leppa keep playing Mayes down back when his preferred position is as a wingman/half-forward

It worked for Paparone

However, for a top 10 draft pick like Mayes, it's the sort of decision that would make him want to seek opportunities else where.

It's coming to a point where I think whether he will leave or stay depends on whether or not Leppa plays him in his preferred position

Surely if it's frustrating me, it must be 100x more frustrating for Lions' fans...

Injuries in our defence may have forced the issue and must admit he has been playing well in the last 3 weeks.  Paparone is returning in the NEAFL this week so will be interesting to see what Leppa does when he is recalled.

Lester also close to return which will also restrict H/f option for him. Despite our position on ladder we have so many of theses 22 - 25 yo old players vying for positions.  My one gripe with Leppa is he still does not want to drop Senior players. IMO Rich could do with a stint in the NEAFL to shake him up a bit. Would create opportunities for other players. With both Gardiner and Andrews back he should also take the opportunity to drop Merrett, My opinion though,

Lewis Taylor has re-signed for 3 years ending speculation.  Contract for 3 years believed to be $1.2m.

Josh Green probably the only one now that will walk out. A few others may not be re-signed

So we await Gardiner and Green.  Believe Gardiner is close but Green will walk. Cian Hanley still unsigned bur suspect will be and may stay on International Rookie list. May change though if his brother Pearce is traded.

Apparently Dizzy has committed to re-signing, everything to be finalized in the coming days :)

Just read that and great news.
Green is uncontracted at the moment and according to Schwab we will review at end of trade period. The only unsigned player at the moment.

Despite on field performances great to see these two commit for a further 2 years - Cutler to 2019 and Berry locked away till 2020 after just after 5 games.
