Thought i'd start one up for the Melbourne board. Discussion for anything within the off-season for the Dees can be posted here.

I guess the big ones are Frawley and MClark

Latest on Frawley that I've seen is that he is going to Geelong and it is a done deal.

Quite a few rumours flying around at the moment:

- Sam Frost: We're rumored to be looking at him as a replacement for Frawley (or insurance in case he doesn't leave). Wants to head back to Victoria, and is capable of playing as both a KPD and a KPF.

- James Frawley: Looks to be on the way out with a number of clubs circling. The Cats seem to lead the race though.

- Pick 3: If Frawley does end up leaving, and we acquire pick 3 as compo, we look set to offload it for a similar deal to last year (or possibly even a straight up player for pick swap).

Rumors persist that we will go in again for Dylan Shiel, but I doubt it'll happen.

- Mitch Clark: Looks set to return to AFL, but not for Melbourne. I feel Roos and co. are trying to talk up Clark as our best player, in an attempt to receive the greatest compensation possible.

- Heritier Lumumba: Apparently wants out of the Pies. Roos has meet with him for lunch and seems keen on acquiring him to add to our back line.

- Billy Stretch: Melbourne are set to commit to taking F/S Bill Stretch this year. They are yet to decide what pick they will use/ need to use to sign him up. It could be as little as their last available live pick, but the general consensus is a round 2/3 pick.

Great work MTTY.

Also, from a while back, apparently were a chance for Malceski? But I have a feeling the reason why those rumours have quietened is because it looks increasingly like Frawley will leave, and that there is no way in hell melbourne would lower its compensation by getting a free agent.

Nige

If Melbourne are out of the race for Shiel, that means if he does come home then he'll likely come to the Tiges.

I only say though because the last I heard it was between Richmond and Melbourne to sign Shiel.

Also saw a pic of Lumumba photoshopped into a Demons guernsey, it's certainly a different look.  :P

I wouldn't be too disappointed if you ended up getting Pick 3 + Sam Frost as a replacement for Frawls. Never ideal to lose a key player from your club, but that would be reasonable compensation. :)

Obviously we would have to trade something for Frost, but I guess pick 3 for Frawley sounds alright in theory. I still don't agree with the idea of trading a 'known quantity' for a 'risk' though. Also sucks that we can't pick up any free agents now as it would reduce the compensation

I think it's more of, we have a quality big man... they don't grow on trees, that hurts the most here. Pick 3 would be great, but Frawley's abence would make melbourne look... un-anchored

Toga

Yeah, obviously it's not gonna be ideal in any way that you look at it, but at least you're looking like you'll get good compensation + a decent replacement for him, which is better than nothing. If you ended up getting Buddy-like compensation, then that'd be a real shame for the club.

Can you sign Frost as a delisted free agent or something? Not really sure how that works though... And not sure if delisted FA's contribute to compensation?

frost hasn't been delisted.

Melbourne would seek to trade a pick for frost (similar to what happened with monfries I think from memory), to avoid losing part of frawley's compo.

I heard something about Hawthorn losing Lowden to Port Adelaide as a 'delisted free agent', but pretty sure the Hawks would prefer to keep him and haven't delisted him as far as I am aware. So I'm not sure how the rules work, but it appears it's not clear cut to just delistings? Not sure though, I might be wrong

It is clear cut to delistings for delisted free agents. However, you're also an unrestricted free agent if you're in the bottom (25%?) in player salaries at your club.

There is always the option of forcing players to the pre-season and draft, and make them declare they don't want to play for St Kilda  :P

SAM Blease and Melbourne have agreed to part ways, with the 23-year-old seeking opportunities elsewhere after playing just two senior games in 2014.

Apparently Hogan was having a go at him in the VFL for not trying hard enough so I think we all saw this coming
