Yeah, the Lions have done very well. Stood strong against a very stubborn Collingwood recruiting team, and now have an absolute star player to show for it, along with another good young player in Christo.

I reckon Lions supporters would be smiling from ear to ear after last years draft experience and i imagine they would be very keen for 2015 to come around.

From Allen Christensens Media conference:

"Tracking along really well and only a couple of months away from joining in training." - Christensen in regard to his back injury

So looks like he will be available for Round 1 although you never know with back problems.

When do you guys get back into preseason training Ringo ?

Not sure Grazz have not heard officially but if it matches last year had an 8 week block prior to Christmas Break. Some guys in the gym already - Rich doing a lot of running getting kms into legs. Can't wait off field the club considering training and facilities options - hope they decide on the ol;d QE11 stadium only 10 minutes from here.

Hearing Liam Pickering speak on @traderadio, you'd have to think Aish is a very good chance to re-sign. Could be drawn out though.

This is good news as well with Aish likely to re-sign.

Pickering met with Aish's family in Adelaide on the weekend.

Says the speculation regarding a potential move to Collingwood "was never going to happen".

Says Aish is a "really mature kid" and will look to extend a contract with the Lions next year but there is no hurry.

Yep great trade period for the Lions. What a difference a year makes. ;)

Think the recruiting of Beams and Christensen were worth the forgoing of picks 5, 21 and 25.

So we have the following changes from our Senior list.

Retirements:
Johnathan Brown, Brent Moloney, Ashley McGrath
De-Listings:
Jordan Lisle, Patrick Wearden, Andrew Raines and James Polkinghorne
Trades out:
Joel Patful, Jack Crisp
Trades in:
Dane Beams, Allen Christensen

Draft Picks: (Indicative atm)
Pick 44 - Liam Dawson
Pick 63 - Harris Andrews
Pick 67 -
Pick 81 -
Pick 99 -
Pick 117 - Josh Clayton under father/son

So as has been said what a difference a year makes.  After players wanting out now players wanting to come. New Coach, New CEO so can not wait for season to start.

Great work by the club over the last 12 months with the players we drafted last year and trades this year,

I am conservative KB thinking 7 - 10 myself. It will take a while for Beams and Christo to settle in as well.
Anything lower than 10th I would class as failure. We still lack that forward target although McStay and Close are developing.

They should be guaranteed the top 12. I don't think they'll start strong (usually a bad sign for the Lions if they do), but I think they'll come home hard in the second half of the season (like they have for the last two seasons) and will pull an increased amount of upset wins (they always do, but I think the figure should increase by 50%-100%). Whether or not they make the 8 will depend on the exact increase in upset wins, the only thing going against them is the lack of experienced tall forwards (although they have a lot in development). There should be a lot of reliance on Zorko, Green & Taylor to perform this season - Zorko could be a good dt pick as he is still relatively cheap compared to what he is capable of.
