Reading the article, it wasn't as blunt as that

Quote"At the moment we've got a few things going on. Once we get that right I'm sure Paddy Dangerfield will want to be a long-term player with the Crows," Ricciuto told AFL.com.au on Monday.

But asked directly about the possibility of a trade, Ricciuto was clear.

"I didn't say there'd be no chance, and I didn't say we'd trade him. What I said was we have to get everything right so that it's a fair call to ask him to stay long term,' he said.

The former Crows champion reiterated his stance that the club needed to get its own house in order as its first priority.

"We'll get the contract right, we'll pay [Dangerfield] what he needs to be paid, but we've got to get the culture, environment and everything right so that he can win a premiership, because he wants to win one," Ricciuto said.

Let's face it, Ricciuto isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

What makes you say that?

SydneyRox

but even having the CEO talking about the idea of trading the #1 player is just asking for more and more speculation

should have gone with the standard

"Patrick is a contracted and vital member of our group, when the time is right we will begin to work on his new contract, I wont take any more questions or make any further comment"

This is why I tend to agree with MrC a little

Maybe they want some value for him before his body crashes and burns like Judd?

I have a hard time believing he has the acumen required to be a successful board member.

"I've not sat on a board - I don't know what a chairman does" - Mark Ricciuto

His meteoric rise has more to do with nepotism than anything else as far as I'm concerned and I don't think it will be good for the club in the long run.

Which is exactly why he should be coach.  :P

He might stay at the Crows now, if he goes elsewhere other players in good teams like the Hawks and Cats might steal Brownlow votes off him in future years.  :o
