The Bombers want pick 16 + Hamish Hartlett  :o
They might end up getting nothing.

That's pretty ridiculous

" Pretty ridiculous" that's flowering insane. Come-on Bombers, he want's out for flower sake. Not saying get nothing, but Hartlett and pick 4, geez, them peptides are really kicking in

i haven't seen anywhere bombers actually asking for 16+hartlett or even hartlett

that is the paper assuming him

"Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro told The Advertiser:

Occasionally in my early days, and look what it's done to me. Meant our 1st pick(16), or are they just asking for Hartlett? Either way, hands off Hartlett >:(

Yeh I had a look and couldn't find anything mentioning 16 + Hartlett - just port's 7th/8th/9th best player (where hartlett comes in)

My way of thinking is Ryder wants out of the Bombers, and has nominated Port as his club of choice. Hartlett hasn't stated he wants out of Port. So pick 16, and a later pick, should do the job. Why would you want a player that doesn't want to be there anyway, and play hardball

Probably everyone's way of thinking except the Essendon recruiters

I probably shouldn't air this, but iv'e never in my footy following life ( many-many years ) had anything against the EFC. With the goings on of the past 2 odd years, it's getting hard not to lose a little respect for such a proud and strong club. This is in no way directed at the players, as they are just pawns in all of this. Weather they did anything wrong I'm not sure, but just the way it's playing out, that makes the average Joe, wonder what in hell is going on. Just listening to most of the " experts " , it seems to be, Hird is listening to Tanya too much. Even Little and Lloyd are starting to want this to go away. Again I must admit strongly, I don't know where the real truth stands, but there just seems too much opinion going against them. Stop playing hardball I say :)

Vinny

Haha Essendon thinks they can play hardball. Good one. :P

It was happens before close of trade period that counts. Heavens sake it is only day 1 real negotiations will start about day 3 once all the BS is out of the way.  Same applies to Beams and other top players.

Agree Ringo, just alot of posturing going on at the minute. Eventually everyone comes to their senses.

Only if they had senses to start with

They do mate, each year in the early part of trade period everyone holds out for as much as possible. Its a cut throat business and they act accordingly until push comes to shove then the deals get done.

Easier to play hardball while on peptides  :-X

Yes, putting the fact he wants out aside for a moment...
Someone like Hartlett I think is actually a very fair trade. Someone like Ryder holds a lot of currency. Only gotta look at the Darren Jolly deal (last ruck trade to come to mind). Ruckman are much harder to come by, and spend a lot of time and effort developing.

He's in his prime, will be for a good time still, perfect for Port's premiership chances. Great in the ruck, also great in the forward line so you can play him in a team with another ruckman no worries. Guys like Jacobs don't have that versatility, Sandi is obviously getting old, Mumford has terrible durability. How many other ruckman would you honestly rather grab right now if you could get anyone? Not many, NicNat the only standout.

Anyway, pick 17 is an absolute steal.

However, it's better than nothing.
