Ok well this could be a controversial one but we have decided to accept the Bears offer for Cyril Rioli over some other good offers.

Thanks to everyone who submitted an offer for Rioli and sorry to those whose offer I didn't accept. You might have a few issues with me accepting this one but I have my reasons which are outlined below.

Bears give: Dean Kent + Mason Wood + Nat 16.
Dolphins give: Cyril Rioli.

Adamant to confirm.

Justification as follows.

A lot of people don't rate Dean Kent but in my opinion as a goalkicking midfielder (who I think is very likely to get mid/fwd next season) he is very suited to this scoring system. Case in point is his Sportsbet average is 73.15 compared with his DT average of 52.6.

The main selling point for me on Kent is that he appears to have cemented a spot in the Demons best 22 now having played every game from Rounds 13-23. He adds that element of pacey, outside run to the Demons side which they don't have a lot of (looks like he has replaced Blease in the side). From what I've seen of him this season I liken him to Isaac Smith who broke out this year and averaged 125. I'm not saying Kent will reach those heights next season but in another 2-3 I can see him getting there.

Mason Wood, although yet to get a game has been carving up the VFL for North Melbourne's reserves, booting 29 goals from 18 games including three bags of 4 and three bags of 3. Also in his only game for North this year he booted three goals and scored 97 points. I'm confident that when Petrie retires, or if Black continues to struggle, Wood will take over and cement a spot in the Roos side as second/third (maybe even first) tall forward.

The addition of Nat 16 also means the Dolphins now have 4 picks in the Top 20 which will help us build our team for the future and continue to improve our depth which is the main weakness I identified when Ablett was traded/ the end of last season.

Also in this deal I am not giving up any other players whereas in the other deals I was also offloading another starting XV player like Rosa/Sutcliffe/Varcoe so our team improves its depth.

Confirmed.

Well obviously I am away for one day and you just accept another trade

I suppose anyway that Kent + Wood + pick 16 is a lot better than Viney + pick 6
This pretty much happens all the time  ::)
Again, I think Memph surely had at least a couple of deals better than this one.

Well that's actually not true, you wanted Sutcliffe + Nat 18 on top of Rioli so I wouldn't be putting the guilt on Memph.

Are you serious?

Kent and Wood have combined for a wonderful 28 games, Kent has shown pretty much nothing and Wood is way down the pecking order.

Viney was a highly touted youngster and a future gun and has already shown heaps.

Pick 6 is heaps better than pick 16

Sutcliffe has had some good moments but still isn't proven scorer

Viney + Pick 6 + Jansen for Rioli + Sutcliffe + 16

Is the last deal Memph offered me

upthemaidens

To be fair  Rioli only plays 10 games a year  ;D

JBs-Hawks

Get your offers in for a good young forward that doesnt pull a hammy every 2 weeks, Adam Tomlinson. Looking for Mids.

Viney + Pick 6 + Jansen for Rioli + Sutcliffe + 16

I knew this one would stir up a bit of controversy.

Viney will be a good SC player but gets too many handballs and doesn't get enough goals for this game.

In my opinion currently Rioli  > Viney (in the Sportsbet game) + Jansen/Second round rookie and Sutcliffe + Nat 18 is easily equal to Pick 6.

With regards to the Tigers deal (Menzel + Salem for Rosa + Cyril)

Rioli > Menzel and Rosa > Salem. If you'd offered Newnes over Salem then perhaps.

Long term perhaps I win there but no guarantee.

Kent + Wood + Nat 16 + keeping Sutcliffe and Rosa > the other deals on the table.

Rioli's injury proneness is also a worry. He's played 13 and 11 games in the last two seasons and only a couple in the XV finals whre he scored very poorly. Rewind to 2012 as well and he missed most of the XV final. You have to go back to Round 21 2011 until Rioli played a good game in a match which would have been in the XV finals (if our competition had been running then).

If, and it's a big if, he stays fit and plays 22 then the Bears could win this one big time but we won't know until Kent and Wood have played a few more seasons.

Like the infamous Motlop deal (Masten and Blair just had horrible seasons) I'd back my ability to spot talent which will develop in to good, Best XV players. Yes Harper has been a bust but that's mainly due to injuries and Boomer's ability to keep keeping on.

Miles? Lol jokes :P

Ricochet

Crocs give: Jamie Cripps + Nick Graham
Dolphins give: Matt Rosa + Joel Patfull

Memph to confirm.

Losing our F5 in Cripps hurts a little but we actually have a bit of fwd depth now and needed a decent backup midfielder so we don't get burnt by an Ablett-like injury again. Graham is another young gun and should get more opportunites at Carlton. And Patfull is just defensive depth to even up the trade.

Due to list movements it will be spread over two periods.

Trade Period 1
Crocs give: Jamie Cripps
Dolphins give: Matt Rosa

Trade Period 2
Crocs give: Nick Graham
Dolphins give: Joel Patfull

Rosa is getting on a bit, as is Patfull so to get two promising younger players with 10 seasons ahead of them is a win for me. Both look to be in their team's best 22s as well so will help our team more than draft picks.

Elephants give: Jack Redden
Dongs give: Jarryd Roughead + first rounder (pick 12 or 13)

Nails to hopefully confirm.

Confirmed

With disappearance of L. Anthony and retirement of L. Hayes along with a whole lot of other skull duggery we need the extra mid assistance. Jack Redden also adds another genuine captain option to the lineup even if he is costly.

Memphistopheles

Surely ele should be the one giving the sweetener o.0

Roughead way more valuable than Redden in this game...
