Another deal done, and a goody for both teams too  8)

Crabs give Nat 27
Dolphins give Ryan Lester

Memph to Confirm

Confirm.

Although we are short on midfielders Beams' impending arrival at Brisbane this season or next means Lester falls even further down the pecking order and we'd rather take our chances in the draft.

Results are in from the Trade Committee.
TRADE #15: BLOCKED
Mongolia give: S.Johnson + H.Ballantyne + A.Young
Turkey give: B.Ellis + NAT Pick #38
Results: This trade was blocked 3-0. It was the view of the committee that Mongolia was giving up far too much in this trade, and while Ellis has potential to be a good scorer for many years, the value of Johnson and Ballantyne, as well as Young was too much to give up.

Whats the point of trading then?

If you can't trade a 21 year old midfield premium that has 10 years left in him for a bloke who will be 32 years old next year and possible in his last season plus a mid level forward whats the point.

Both parties were happy with it.

My understanding on trading is trying to improve your team.

Turkey wanted to improve their starting 15 and Mongolia wanted a young premium to slot straight into their ageing midfield and still remain high on the table as a premiership threat.

Why don't I just go out and get one of the best forwards with a good 6 years left in the AFL for 2 guys not even in the clubs best 25 and a later first round pick. That sounds fair.

I have to say I was surprised this one got blocked.

Ellis > Johnson due to age
Nat 38 > Young
Balla to level it up

It definitely isnt one sided imo.

Jay

Its one-sided but not as much as the Cyril trade.

Toga

Yeah look whatever a decision was made so that's that. But just find it interesting that this one got all the scrutiny compared to some of the others but eh, let's move on.

Nige

Yeah, I don't get how this gets this result but the Cyril one gets approval.

Vlossy

Just saw the Cyril trade  :o

Anyways, just found it interesting. Balla value is prob well and truly inflated due to his AA year.

Ok l've been talking to JB about our failed deal.......and we've sorted a way to get it over the line.

The deal is now.... James Aish + Phil Davis  for  Luke McDonald + Xavier Richards + Nat 23

It'll work like this........

Trade Period 1:  Ales give Nat 23

Trade Period 2: Ales give Luke McDonald + Xavier Richards
Crabs give James Aish + Phil Davis

Our reasoning behind it is that the initial deal was good and fair to both teams. But to get it over the line and be workable, JB has now thrown in Richards too, who was going to be delisted by him anyway.
We know we'll have to keep him on our rookie list for the whole of next season, but are prepared to do it to get this deal through.

APPROVED

Reasoning: Aish and McDonald are both promising youngsters, with Aish worth a bit more. Pick 23 and Richards for Davis evens it out.

Needed a trade to help the building for our team, we feel this does just that, losing a superstar but gaining what we need to be competitive next season

Llamas give: Patrick Dangerfield

Turkey Gazelles give: Jack Viney, David Mundy, James Battersby, NAT #6
