Funny thing is in shallow drafts we've managed to get Weit's, Curnow, Cuningham, McKay, Silvagni, SPS, Fisher, Macreadie and Williamson who have all shown signs of being good players.

I think Brisbane and GC are clear losers in this period. Everyones saying that "have to pay overs" because players finally want to come there and it sets a bad image for future players. But it also sends a message to other clubs that if a player does want to go there, theyll both pay way overs because they are a rebuilding inter-state club. Which i think is equally as bad. When a player nominates your club you generally get them cheap. But neither weller or Cameron are worth those picks at full value.

I mentioned this a couple of pages ago that we tend to value draft picks and draft position more than a players talent. Having said that, you generally want to go for established star players knowing that you're giving up such high picks. A guy like Luke Parker is what you're looking at (although he might even be worth a little more) not Weller.

This. People keep talking about this year being a shallow draft but there has got to be at least some elite talent among the top handful of picks. The quantity (e.g. later picks) is what the concern is with this draft. Pick 2 will get a gun.

We cheered Crowley every time he got a touch against us last year (and a standing ovation when he went off the ground injured), and I can guarantee we'll give Barlow the same treatment when he eventually plays us.
