Wow,   love to hear GC explain rational for Weller trade.    way way overs.  Schace and Boyd at FF/CHF in VFL for next couple of years.  doesnt seem overly smart.    Doggies must see boyd becoming a ruckman.    Dogs are turning into pussies will soon be purring at their opponents.

All this GC bashing is a bit weird.

Look at it this way.

They just got a player who wanted to come home. To Gold Coast. When does that ever bloody happen?

This is a weaker draft, Weller's easily as good, if not better than whoever will be taken at Pick 2. And for all we know, that Pick 2 could be a Victorian kid who wants out in a couple of years.

They also got West Coast's first pick next year. Most people are expecting the Eagles to drop so they've probably just got themselves a top 10 pick in a stronger draft (some already calling it the 'super draft'). They're still gonna finish bottom 10 and have another first round pick next year. They already received two second round picks for next year, again... in a stronger draft.

It's really not that bad.
Yeh it's not as bad as it's being made out to be. Weller will surprise a lot of people next year, he is class.

Fair point,  Proven player in Weller with upside over potential for pick 2 that brings homesickness risk as well as development risk.

Agreed, Schache was a pick 2 and look how that turned out for Brisbane

They paid overs for the Marketing.

1st time a player wants to come back, they had to get the deal done so they can show other players.

If you're going to avoid drafting potential talent on go home factor you have already lost. You need to actually build a culture and environment where these guys are going to want to stay. If I'm Dew I am already pissed off at the ineptitude of the recruiting department. Lets not pretend that players haven't been moving to Queensland the last few years, in fact you have had Lyons, Wigg, Barlow, Hanley (already in Queensland but swapped clubs), Witts, Rosa and Malceski move in the last few years. That doesn't include the players that nominated 'Queensland' that they decided to not bid on and let walk to Brisbane.

The fact is they might have their captain walk on them now, not because he wants to go home, but because they are no hope of winning games and their off-field is still falling apart. They could have gotten Weller for a hell of a lot less than pick 2 or just waited 12 months and gotten him at a discount, instead they made a poor trade with no rationale behind it. Good luck with that, Freo should be proud, they made out like bandits.

And they also extended his contract 12 weeks ago, talk about mismanagement.

Surely we must be looking at Clarke? Trading away both Lobbe & Trengove, as well as only having late picks and quite a few list spots.. Could be a bit more action yet.

Stu is best when he can roam up to the wing and push back hard. He's only 185 so far from key position. He might be done if we doubt if he can get fit though.

I love how every draft of the following year is so much better than the current one. They'll say it again next year I bet.

Last year was shallow. this year shallow and already next years touted as great. Heard that before somewhere and as recently as last year.
