Wasnt he originally offered like 300k from the crows? Now im sure they will bump it up to like 500k. I thought the dees where like 800k. So over 5 years its like $2.5 million or $4 million.

He gets alot more money and gets to move back to where he is from with his friends and family.

seems a smart move.



I reckon 90% of people would do what he is doing. You graduate from uni you get offered a job in another state for a grad program on 50k a year. After 3 years you do really well and they offer you a full time role at 70k a year.  A recruiter from your home town offers you 150k to move back home (where you would rather have been from the start).

How many people knock that back and then take the 100k where they are.

Yeah I find it hard to ping players for leaving for money.

You play footy for what, 10-15 years if you're lucky? A lot of players are delisted every year, most players are a few bad injuries away from that. At the end of your career your body is ruined and you may or may not have qualifications from uni, so there's a lot of uncertainty there.

You gotta think smart, if I was playing for the Giants and Freo offered me an extra 200k a year to play for them I would take it in a heartbeat.
