Hawks opened up salary cap space with Suckling, Hale and Lake moving on. They are trading Jed Anderson and a first round pick. Not sure how that is cheating. Standard salary cap and list management I'd say.

Essendon Trade Period

OUT: Jake Melksham, N39
IN: Matthew Leuenberger, N25

Massive win for them!
Essendon didn't give up N39. That was just the compo pick Lions got. And they'll get something good for Carlisle too

Even better then. :P

Yep, Luey and 25 for Melksham! lol

What do you guys think of this:

Howe + 43

For

Kennedy + 26

Depends how highly Collingwood rate Kennedy I guess

I was thinking this the other day.

Then use Pick 26 FOR Bugg and something...

Far out I'm dirty that Smells Ham is a demon >:(

I will give him a clean slate and see what he can do. Goodwin and McCartney have spent time with him so lets see what they see.

A little perplexed why we need to land Hampton and Seedsman, with Hendo, Laird, Smith and Jaensch coming back from injury. I guess depth never hurt anyone but I wouldn't expect Seedsman to start round 1
Cause we need speed and good ball users. Not going to get very far when we are the 2nd worst team at kicking, plus Hendo is a liability and Jaensch is out for half the season. If we're prepared to spend a 2nd rounder on Seed, he'll start.

Hendo does butcher it, powered me off on many occasions this year. Wouldn't bother me one bit to see Seed's grab his spot.

Really don't care if he feels "welcome" or not

Everyone's opinion will change if he can perform on the field

The ball's in his court

Can't help but notice, there isn't a Jake Melksham edition of the "Getting Excited By: " series  :(

Any news on the signing of Kerridige (May have spelt the name wrong) to Carlton?
Also are the lions still firm on Aish going to the draft?

Could not agree more, everyone is being a little childish, and this is the second year running that Hawks have done this anyway, so I don't know why everyone is making a big deal about it?

Hawks will finally fall off their perch, because there is no way they'll succeed in pulling off free agents year after year to continue stocking their team, and at the same time continue to influx the side with youthful draft picks.

If the list stays the same this will be the ages of the (older) players currently in the team at Round 1 next year (approximately)

SMitch 33, 5 months
Burgoyne 33, 5 months
Gibson 32
Hodge 31, 8 months
Lewis 30
Roughy 29, 1 month
Puopolo, Birch etc will be 28+

In 3-4 years they're all gone and leave a gaping hole in their side. Their youngsters don't look great (maybe because we haven't seen any of them play) and it will be very interesting to see the development of this great Hawthorn side in years to come.

If Brisbane did send him to the draft, surely Carlron would not get Aish at pick 1? That would be one of the worst draft decisions ever, when they've just lost Henderson, Casboult looks likely to go and they're only other talls are Watson, Jamison, Jones and Walker (from Geelong)
The biggest thing though is that Weitering looks like an absolute jet (dont think I've ever seen a better player at draft age) and is one of the very first times that a key defender is going to go at #1, or am I completely wrong??

Different drafts bud.

They'll get Weitering with Pick 1 in the National Draft.

They'll have Pick 1 in the pre-season draft which is where they can take Aish or whoever.
