I reckon they will just draft a couple key defenders in Durdin or Lever or maybe bring Laverde or Wrigth with one pick.

He'll be on only 100K next year, the same as any 2nd year first round pick. Then he'll be playing like a two million dollar player! His last quarter against the Cats was a glimpse into the future and I'm okay with us throwing such an enormous contract at him. I have all the confidence in the world that he'll prove his worth.

It's overs at this point, but you gotta do what you gotta do to lure a player of his size and quality. They don't grow on trees.

Griff is 28 and worth pick 4. Pick 4 and pick 6 is worth a genuine pick 1, key position monster. We could have accepted 4 for Griff, and sent that along with 6 to STK for pick one and grabbed McCartin. I'd prefer Boyd any day, and the fact that he has a year of development is another little bonus.

Well said meow - while it does seem like a ridiculous amount of money to throw at a young fella with not much experience, he looks like he's gonna be quite some player. At a glimpse I would also prefer him over McCartin so think the Dogs made the right move there, and it doesn't hurt to tie him up on a long-term contract given the potential he has.
