Not sure how I feel about the O'Rourke deal, considering Hawthorn is essentially getting a #2 draft pick with a few years of development for a very late first round pick... I know he's had his injury troubles but surely GWS would've had other offers for him!

Ricochet

Yeh agree mate, just makes you think though that maybe he isn't as good as the #2 pick he went at.

Spite

Why do people think Christo for pick 25 is fair?!

Time to get back on the trading bandwagon, and boy do I have a monster trade for you all!

Brisbane gives: J. Redden + pick 5 + pick 25
Brisbane receives: D. Beams + A. Christensen

Geelong give: T. Varcoe + A. Christensen + pick 14
Geelong receive: M. Clark + pick 5 + pick 30

Collingwood gives: D. Beams, H. Lumumba + pick 30
Collingwood receives: J. Redden, L. Greenwood, T. Varcoe + pick 16

Brisbane gives: J. Redden + pick 5 + pick 25
Brisbane receives: D. Beams and A. Christensen

North gives: L. Greenwood + pick 16
North receives: pick 14 + pick 23

Melbourne give: M. Clark + pick 23
Melbourne receive: H. Lumumba + pick 25 + pick 35

Monster trade I know, but it might work out for all parties. Essentially, its two three way trades combined. One for Clark-Lumumba-Varcoe, and then one for Beams-Greenwood-Redden.

I'd be happy from a North perspective, feels about right for Greenwood (early 2nd round) + pick upgrade. Rest don't really care, fight over it. :P

Brisbane giving up way to much they would never do it Beams is worth Redden and Christensen is worth pick 25ish but pick 5 is way overs
Beams > Redden
Yeah Beams = Redden + N5 pretty much.
Christo > 25, so I don't know.

But that looks quite fair to most teams WC. Good stuff.

Yeah, the Beams + Christensen FOR Redden + pick 5 + 25 was the hardest. For me Christensen > pick 25, but Redden + pick 5 > Beams, so really it kinda balances out. Brisbane would be hurt by the loss of Redden, but be ecstatic they got BOTH Beams and Christensen.

he nominated Hawks as his preferred club

Doesn't mean thye have to trade him there though if they are getting much better offers elsewhere

Nails

Jack Redden 1 year younger than Beams.

Wouldn't do it. Redden showed what he can do which was just as good as beams in Redden's 2nd half of the season

Redden for Beams or flower off Pies imo.

C'mon Nails, Beams is way better than Redden.

Honestly think Redden + N25 is a fair trade. But Brissie will never let Redden go, and I don't think Redden would want to go tbh
It would be a fair trade, but Redden doesn't want to go. After what happened last year, we can't be making a trade like that. I'd prefer if we didn't get Beams at all, would make for a better culture around the club and probably encourage our younger kids to re-sign as well.
And if Beams happens to leave the Pies next year, then sweet.

Perhaps Brisbane could ask Redden to take one for the team, go to Collingwood for a year, then end of the season, say he is unhappy and request a trade back? :P lol

SydneyRox

I think the way it is looking, Brisbane just need to make sure they have room for Beams in the cap for 2016 and beyond.

24 years old and and a Premiership Player, All Australian, club Fairest and Best and for the past 4 seasons has averaged 28 possies and 1.2 goals a game.

compared to Redden who is the same age this year with none of those accolades above and for the past 4 seasons averaging 23.6 possies and 0.5 goals a game.

Redden still a very good player but Beams is on another level
