Sydney shouldnt get a compensation pick for Malceski

Why not?? 3 years @ 500k is a longer and more expensive deal than Waite got and only $100k behind the overall money that Higgins left for?

Because in reality he was an unrestricted free agent, Really if an unrestricted player leaves no matter the cost or contract length a compensation pick shouldnt work.

That makes 0 sense.

Who comes into the Sydney line up for Mal?

Probably Laidler or Jones. Rohan and Shaw become the rebound defenders while Laidler can play 3rd tall with Rampe. Jones played a bit off half back in the games he got. Johnson would have been the one you think but having another reco you think it would be one of Laids or Jones. The other option is McVeigh goes to half back and Tom Mitchell moves into the midfield rotation.

My money is on Laidler. Played most games even with Eski in the side and just seems the logical replacement.

Manager of Essendon midfielder Ben Howlett, Jason Doven says Howlett is now likely to stay at the club after coach James Hird survived the sack from yesterday's board meeting.
Doven says that Howlett was considering his options had Hird been sacked, however Howlett has spoken to Hird in the last 24 hours and looks likely to remain at the club.

James Hird has also today said that Paddy Ryder will remain at Essendon if a trade cant be brokered.

Is it just me or is he truly delusional? Now he's going to tell his players they can't leave?  ::) Hope Ryder explores his 'get-out' clause, takes Essendon to court, wins, and leaves for nothing.

Can't understand for the life of me, why you would want a player, that doesn't want to even be there. Come-on James, surely you're better than that

Then offer up a fair trade. Dont just try get him for chips  because he wants to play for you. Remember Nick Stevens wanting to goto Collingwood  ;)

i prefer the mcveigh option. an extra mid into the rotation and mcveigh who is one of our best users putting the ball where it needs 5o go.

Just some food for thought.. Do you guys see this as a good or bad thing for the game?

It certainly raises questions about what the purpose of free agency is.

Tominator

Just a little something about the increased power players have with trades, in the wake of free agency.. Made my own thread cos I didn't want this to get off-topic

What do you guys think? Is it good or bad for the game?

Ha! We offered Didak for him and they rejected it! So glad that happened!

@theafloffseason: Carlton proposed including Mitch Robinson in a trade with the Western Bulldogs for Liam Jones and Jason Tutt but... http://t.co/VdjdhVB5BA

Not really sure what this is based off, but interesting none the less..

Pretty sure it was the other way round, Port asked for Didak and you guys refused. Worked out well for you in the end though ;)

Would like it if Robbo found a club...for WXV purposes only.

Starting to get a bit concerned  :-\
