Nobody said we did the best. Mitchell and Vardy regardless of his injuries for 2 junk picks can only be a win

At least we don't treat our greats like rubbish and give out first round picks for spuds like Jed :P

Well elephants said they should be in the poll for the team that did the best.

they did a good job and won but other teams did better.

We gave up nothing, filled a need and gained an elite player.

Didnt put a foot wrong, have to be in the conversation.

It's all respective to where teams currently are.

West Coast was pushing for top 4, with Mitchell and not losing anyone plus adding a backup ruckman as well as overall youngster improvements means we push for top 4 again.

Melbourne and Saints didn't make the 8, their moves bring them closer to top 8 so they are the biggest winners.

Freo had a horrible year, made the changes they think they needed too and should improve from that.

GC sucked, but placed themselves very well for draft picks.

Hawks lost a lot to gain a lot.

Just a few different examples.

Top tier for me are Saints and Dees, teams like West Coast, Freo and Hawks are prob the tier under that.  Freo did better than West Coast in the trade period, but it doesn't put them ahead of us overall so I rate their trade periods equally.  It's all relative.

Didn't the Hawks do something similar with the Saints? Something involving Savage and Big Boy? I can't remember exactly but someone did someone a favour then gave them a good trade later on. Not against the rules I guess, but I hope JOM flops :P
yep, we traded them Macca for 18 (or 19) and Savage, and they agreed to also give us 19 (or 18) for pretty much nothing (59 or something) when they got their hands on it

What is with clubs trading away youngsters with pretty decent potential (Lyons, Stewart, Caddy, Black, Stevens, and then even older guys like Cloke and Dunn) for literally flower-all this trade period? Making some trades absolutely unwinnable for some clubs, and you should go in with the goal of winning every trade.

Have to consider guys like Stewart, Black and Stevens have been in the system for a few years now and aren't really a chance of getting games at their respective clubs, so better off doing the right thing by them and getting them somewhere they might actually play

Then Cloke and Dunn are both cooked, Dunn especially played the 2nd half of the year of the VFL, just wasn't able to adapt to the new modern gameplan, is more of an oldschool defender and the game is moving past him. Who knows what Cloke will do next year

Lyons and Caddy just poor trades imo

Melbourne has delisted Chris Dawes, Ben Newton, Viv Michie and Max King

Dawes was blessed to last as long as he did

Purple 77

Sigh, I remember the dubbed "good moves by Melbourne" in getting Michie & Newton. Had so much promise, especially Newton, whom I still think was unlucky not to get a proper go at it, he offered something IMO.

... it was the thought that counted Dawes! Thanks for coming to our club when no one else would. But I will say, the only thing I'll really miss, is the Dawes thread on Demonland. That always cheered me up.

I got a bit excited, it was actually something like 24+59 for 19, but that's still damn good for us, pretty much turned 24 into 19 for nothing

Anyone want Barlow.
He's possibly gone from everyone's SC team to playing for Koo Wee Rup

Would take him over Sam Gray in our best 22 tbh. Come to Port!

Jukes

He's only 28, most serious teams with salary cap/list room should be after him - would love him at the dons.

I reckon Adelaide would be his best fit!
