I'd say with either the mid 30s pick we get from Brisbane (yeah, nah I think Dodoro won't let that happen), or if there's truth in this Vandenberg rumour, package him up with that pick to get a slight upgrade which would appease the Bombers. Failing that, manufacture Pick 19 to get us Hibberd.

Probably missing someone but North 2017 will be without Boomer, Dal Santo, Petrie, Firrito, Wells and potentially Goldy and are looking at sliding south quickly. Essendon on the other hand will be with a few extras in 2017 and have fast tracked their list. Essendon should fare better next year for mine. Goldy going is a disaster.

First up i think Goldy will stay.

People cant dispute that North got hit very very hard by injuries and never recovered. The team was undefeated then just lost a few close games to the top teams with key players out then completely lost it.

A healthy Mason Wood will be a big big in.
Higgins missed round 8 onwards
Ben Jacobs missed round 8 onwards and not sure if he plays but he was an elite tagger in the 15 finals
Luke Mcdonald missed pretty much round 11 onwards
Sam Wright missed round 11 onwards
Lachy Hansen was unhealthy pretty much all of the year.

Kayne Turner, Jed Anderson and Taylor Garner all missed loads of games and if just 2 are healthy they will compete for the role to replace boomer.

Petrie was a shell of himself so no loss, Firrito was a solid player but no star

Boomer NDS Wells of course are big losses

but there are injured players as i said coming in

I used to subscribe to the theory of a handful of injuries making an impact on a team in a given year. That was before the Hawks won the 2014 flag, and if you needed further proof, the Dogs won the 2016 flag.

Interesting one if Rocky goes. Current Leadership group is Rocky, Hanley, Rich, Zorko, Beams and Merrett, Merrett has retired, Hanley to Suns. Beams really has no leadership experience, Rich has form issues and this may lose some respect, Zorko the obvious one but can be hot headed at times. I expect Andrews to be elevated to leadership group next season.

Even if Rocky somehow stays, Zorko HAS to be captain, with Beams vice

I'm very happy to see Melbourne chasing good players because it will be great to see them play finals soon

One of Lewis/Rocky + Hibberd + another preseason into the existing group = good times ahead
