Saints list manager Ameet Bains says the club won't be offering pick No.5 for Jake Carlisle. "Very confident" deal will get done though

Makes me even more confident that it'll be next years 1st rounder.

I know the Saints are merely negotiating. But I think they are running a real risk - next years first rounder might be a good deal for the Dons though encase Worsfield pulls them back into the 8 (and the Bombers really do believe they will be a top 8 side next season by the sounds of it).

Huh? St Kilda are the ones that will be giving up the pick so Essendon's finishing position isn't relevant haha.

I wish they'd stop referring him to as a Swingman... He's a defender. Just got forced to play forward haha.

It's probably more of a case of wanting to keep pick 5 in hope of getting a certain player.

Well I reckon we can and WILL finish higher. And next years draft will be decent. But we are tracking for 2018, that extra year in a player could be the difference.

I was referring more to Essendon having a potential top 5 pick next season as well as this year (as they plan to be in the top 8 next season). But obviously that depends on the Saints  :P

Yeh that's not bad. Reckon Essendon might use the 2nd rounder they get for Melksham instead of their 2016 one

If it's not this years first round pick, I doubt essendon will be sending along a second round pick with Carlisle. Next years pick isn't nearly as attractive for us as this years.
