Hawthorn big wraps for Suban. Were seeking straight swap deal for Shoenmakers. Ross Lyon declined.

If GWS don't trade Boyd, something tells me that there might be another wooden spoon in our future in 2015. We'll get him now, or next year with pick 1. GWS are just delaying the inevitable, same as we're doing if we keep Griffen.

think we're in the box seat again for pick 1

Haha probably. How many is that, 27 spoons now? Either way, Boyd could just refuse to sign, refuse to agree to any trades, put himself in the draft and the Giants end up with nothing while Boyd ends up back in Vic on a huge contract.

Wow! Don't blame him though, he'd be getting a massive offer. Remember how much they offered Lonergan?
That's definitely what they'll throw at him.

Patton gone for a majority of, if not, the season and if Boyd goes... Cam McCarthy could be getting a fair few games!
@srahul_35: The Bulldogs have offered Boyd $5.5m/6 years and $3m over the first 2 years. How can you blame a 19yo for wanting that much money?

100% fair enough Boyd wanting to leave for that money. That being said, I don't think the giants will move him on, unless there's something substantial and he can't walk atm, he's still contracted. I know it'd be best for Boyd, but honestly I  really don't like draftees moving after a single season.

Stevo reckons Boyd's been offered $1.1m a year for at least 5 years, maybe 6 or 7.

In a contract that will overshadow Buddys for years to come....$20m over 15 years.

Mat0369

That is ridiculous money to offer a kid that has barely played any football.

Jay

Hate the whole concept of these young kids that have proved nothing getting to choose where they want to play. If they're contracted, they should have no right to leave unless there are circumstances greater than football e.g. Beams wanting to be with his Dad.

Ricochet

Dont mind our interest in Schoey. Doubt we'd let Subes go though

Pretty easy to abuse that rule though

That is a huge amount of money for a 19 year old kid :o

Surprised Freo didn't bite at that. Ibbo is struggling to play a full season, Johnson about to turn 30, McPharlin turning 33, Dawson turning 29. Tanner Smith has only played one game, Alex Pearce hasn't played a game. Silvagni will be coming back but it would have to be a concern for them surely.

Yeah of course. If a player wants out he should be traded to the club offering up the most in return. None of this nominating a club crap.

yeh its no secret that McPharlin's replacement is needed asap. But with quite a few key possie kids developing in the 2s the other key defender spots arent as much of a concern. Schoey would be perfect tho, would be surprised if we didn't have a crack

This!

Players that are eligible for FA are allowed to nominate which club they would like to go to... Fair enough, most of these blokes have been loyal servants to their clubs for 7-8 years before they are eligible for FA. Kids that have only played 1-2 seasons should be able to nominate their state of choice, and then it's up to the club to find the best deal available to them

Yeh that sounds good. It would also help to separate free agency and trading

Edit: What Toges said

Ricochet

Gotta also look at it from other side fellas. Clubs will be reluctant to trade for a player if he doesn't want to go to a club/state. Nominating clubs has been going on foreva, it just wasnt made public as much
