http://m.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-trade-news-radical-plan-discussed-to-get-paddy-ryder-to-port-adelaide-20141008-1137n5.html

this is interesting

How is that legal?

Because the AFL would rather put every other club down the order of the draft than see another showerstorm Essendon court case

The question I have...if Ryder does explore his get-out clause, and nullifies his contract, is he a un/restricted FA, or a delisted FA?

I was under the impression that if ANY Essendon player explored the clause and won they would be delisted FA...otherwise what becomes of Elliot Kavanagh if he walks? He cant be a restricted FA?

That's exactly why the AFL is offering these bullshower deals to Essendon/Port because they don't want it to happen

really depends what the 2nd deal is

the fact they are exploring letting ryder go and getting compo for seems a bit dodgy
but it is exactly what richmond want us to do with winderlich
and exactly what stkilda and nicky dal done last year

only reason anyone bats an eye atm is because it is essendon

Richmond just want to pick Winderlich up as a FA though? I didn't think they wanted to do any shoddy secondary deals where some spud is supposedly worth a first rounder.

regarding the second deal with a spud for a first rounder all they have to do is like add pick 50 to the player still might be overs but it's not like way overs

Why are Saints so open to trading the number 1 pick

Petracca will be the perfect fit for a team like St Kilda and they need all the young guns they can get.

Pretty distasteful that AFL clubs can treat players like cattle.

I don't think people realise that Beams can just walk out on Collingwood next year. There is no matching deals shower. It's like getting delisted almost. You just got to the draft and get picked up. Greenwood could do it if he wants to screw North. But if he does, would be funny if everyone passed for him haha.

Yes think the Pies will take those 2 picks in the end it could backfire and they get zip next year he could even sit out next year or go on compassionate leave to be with his father

He will still be paid under his contract only missing the match payments. And as I said earlier he could do a Mitch Clarke and retire due to stress and then sign with Brisbane or Suns when he is ready.
He could also play next year not sign a contract and walk to the PSD where Brisbane would be the only club in a position to meet his stated conditions.

Seriously though I suspect a deal may be done close to Friday deadline as Pies will not to run the risk of getting Zilch next year. Suspect it will be pick 5 and a lower player such as Lester or Golby or Senior Player and pick 25.

On another note Leppa spoke with Allan Christensen yesterday.

Pick 5 and 25 for me then the Pies can put up 25 for Greenwood

kilbluff1985

that's what i believe will happen shaker

Pies will be keen to get a deal done today you would think and get Greenwood tomorrow
