Saints axe Gwilt and Jones

After the loss, coach Alan Richardson confirmed neither would play for the club next year - in the pursuit of young talent, Jones and Gwilt would have to play elsewhere if their AFL careers were to continue.

"We had a conversation earlier in the week that there won't be a position for those two guys going forward," Richardson said.

Good start for the Saints, Gwilt has nothing more than a bit player and Clint Jones was well past his decent tagging days.

Leaves a ton of spots open for the to trade/draft with Maister/Lenny/Milera all gone.

All they have to do now is cull Schneider and they'll be ready to start improving

Not sure how your maths skills work, but they joined the VFL in 1897, so well over 100 years ago, 117 actually. So that is a wooden spoon every 4.3 years, which is closer to every 5 years than every 3 years.
