THE BRISBANE Lions have an "incredible" amount of money available in their salary cap and plan to spend it poaching more experienced players in the next year or two.

New CEO Greg Swann said coach Justin Leppitsch had done an outstanding job with his young list, but he hoped to add some mid-tier

Hopefully we can use the extra cash to get a player or two just entering their prime.

I'm sure they'd be lining up to move up north, pretty much guarantees players they'll win a premiership if they join the Lions ;)

This is nothing new as at start of season it was stated that under AFL Rules we would pay less the allowable cap with it to be used in future years, With the dearth of Free Agency Players this year is a sound decision.

Would add the finishing touches as our premiership window opens.

Ricochet

Could be some big name FAs next year as well

nas

Is Sam Michael in there? Did he get promoted of the Rookie List? Might have added a Couple of 0's to his next deal.

I wonder how much Frawley likes the Sun?

Capper

Watching the Lions play last weekend would inspire anyone to join that team. They absolutely torched the pies.

But it will be hard for companies to get behind the Lions especially with Bennett re-joining the Broncos.

Hopefully the Lions can get sponsors, bums on seats and some players next year and make the 8.

The less Vic teams in the 8 the bettter

Jroo

Dayne to come home and join his brother?
:P

Ringo

Do not think we need Frawley with the backs we have at the moment. Is in the age range we are seeking though so would not surprise but would we pay what is rumoured to offering the answer would be no.

As I have said in previous posts Leppa has made it clear we will be younger again this year so would be using our draft picks to achieve this.

@Jroo8 Swan will not be in the plans as he would be outside they criteria of players we would be seeking.

@Nas regarding Sam Michael he is still on the rookie list and has been for 3 years so if not promoted would have to be delisted with the possibility of redrafting similar to what we were going to do with Banfield before Richmond pounced.

@tabs we have always struggled to get sponsors and with the on and off field dramas with the club over the previous couple of years attendances have also suffered.  We compete in a market where Broncos and Reds have the higher profile than the Lions making it difficult. Usually there seems to be no real conflict with match scheduling but one game where our attendance was down to just over 13k the Reds were playing the Waratahs in Rugby so no need to say which was most supported.

Leppa has also made it known he wants to continue playing the attacking, running style so hopefully that also brings the crowds back.

Now to take care of Freo this weekend.

Ricochet

Frawley has been playing fwd most of the year so he could provide a target up there while still being able to swing back. Could be very handy at Brissie, but Frawley has said he wants success and Brissie are still rebuilding. Don't think Frawley is worth his rumoured price tag either.

JROO8 was talking about Dayne Beams Ringo

Ringo

Apologies JR008 and wrong reading on my part. Dayne Beams may well be a target when his current contract expires and a return home to a team with a premiership window opening may be great enticement.

Nige

Yeah, it's been reported now that the Lions are chasing Dayne Beams when he comes out of contract at the end of next season.

Torp

Hmm...Brissy will have an amazing midfield next season.

strikes91

Tom Mitchell could be handy as well.

GoLions

Should ask tbag when Tex is out of contract haha
