Going to be tough this week without McGlynn, Ward, Daisy, de Boer, Dan Jackson, Conca, Scully, Golby and Curtly Hampton.  :-\

Still have a solid team on the park though, so looking forward to a close match with the Bears.  8)

May I just point out, that the 'Strikers' have 23 non-players from our 46 man squad.  :o
Wrong time of year to be struck down by injuries.  :(

Jroo

Having a great week this week, if only I was still in. Greene, Gray and Ziebell  8)
Hopefully my reserves can progress to the final.

BB67th

1st Preliminary Final
SRI LANKA STRIKERS (1046 from 10 + C) v BANGLADESH BEARS (860 from 7 + C)

2nd Preliminary Final
KL CROCODILES (1383 from 11 + C + VC) v HONG KONG DONGS (969.5 from 10 + VC)

Some interesting developments in the Preliminary Finals. The Strikers are in trouble after a poor showing from their defence, and the Bears have a real chance from stopping the best team all season from getting to their first Grand Final.

The Crocodiles and Bears, meanwhile, are locked in an interesting battle, and the fate of this match will rest mainly on the shoulders of Buddy Franklin.

WTF why do the bears get to play in two prelims? It's unfair if they get double prelim chance wtf

And so the second AXV Grand Final now has its teams!!!

1st Preliminary Final
SRI LANKA STRIKERS (1627) v BANGLADESH BEARS (1706)

2nd Preliminary Final
KL CROCODILES (1944) v HONG KONG DONGS (1718)

Sri Lanka put in one of their worst performances of the season, with a simply woeful backline, allowing the Bears to sneak in and defeat the best team all year. The Bears are the reigning premiers, and will be looking to go back to back. Who would have thought would happen 6 weeks ago?

Meanwhile the Crocs proved that they can do just fine without Gary Ablett in the finals, with plenty of other stars to step up instead. Buddy played a big one for the Dongs, but it just wasn't enough. Not even naming opposition player Corey Enright in their backline helped Hong Kong :P, and the midfield really let them down when it counted most.

So there it is, the second AXV Grand Final will be played between the Bangladesh Bears and the KL Crocodiles. Time for everyone to pick a team to win!

Don't forget that our awards night is on this coming Tuesday, the same night as the M0nty Medal and the other XV awards, I hope to see everybody there!!

Wow that hurts the Strikers.

Clearly the best team all year but dumped out in the Prelim.

Going to be a very good match next week though. I feel like the Bears could be a good shot at two in a row but the Pendlebury inspired Crocodiles are looking very strong.

Jay

Ravaged by injury again, having 23 of our 46 man squad being out injured.

Been a good year though. We'll be back 8)

And here are the reserves results!

Reserves

1st Preliminary Final
LAOS ELEPHANTS (746) v MANILA FOLDERS (647)

2nd Preliminary Final
UAE TIGERS (906) v TURKEY GAZELLES (1248)

So the first AXV Reserves Grand Final will be contested between the Laos Elephants and the Turkey Gazelles.

The Elephants got home in a close one over the Folders, while the Gazelles had a huge game to smash the Tigers. If they bring something like that again next week, the cup is as good as theirs!

It will be interesting to see how these teams go, both having missed out on making finals in seniors, they can look forward to at least contesting a premiership, even if it is the reserves.
