We aquired Nick Dal Santo and Robin Nahas through free agency last season, who should North chase next in order to propel us further up the ladder next year?

I personally like Sam Reid from Sydney for one. Drew Petrie is nearing his end and North really haven't made any strides looking for a replacement. With Reid falling out of favour due to Tippett and Buddy, perhaps he might be squeezed out?

Similarly, North should be chasing hard for Tom Mitchell, the kid is a gun, yet cant get a game...love to see him at North.

Not sold on North chasing after Shaun Higgins signature, has turned his career around, but there is still too much risk.

So, opinions?

Nige

North have got Mason Wood and big Benny Brown.

Both absolute superstars.  ;)

Titch isnt getting games at Sydney as he keeps getting injured and Sydney wont rush him back in asap.

Dont know if Reid will go to North as you have Majak as well as Woods and Brown

Vinny

North are chasing Waite as a short-term option. I'd like him to stay at Carlton for one more if he is going to play like he has in the last month every week, but could definitely go.

What about Robbo ?? Blues dont want him anymore

Be happy for a team to take Majak off our hands, can't stand him.

Lazy player, always chasing the cheap kicks, and I feel that the only reason he hasn't been delisted is because he makes a good poster boy for multiculturalism.

Still doesn't solve North's issue about Petrie's successor. Who out of Aaron Black, Ben Brown, Robbie Tarrant, Majak Daw, or Lachlan Hansen will stand up and kick 40+ each year after he retires? In my opinion, not one, but Black would be the best chance but he can't do it alone.

Sam Reid might kick 40, he kicked 31 in 2012 in this third season prior to the arrival of Tippett and Buddy. Reckon he's North best chance considering the rarity of good forwards and might benefit of a change of scenery.

Neither would North. No way.

I reckon North should also keep a close eye on the delisted free agents available this year. If memory serves me right, North's salary cap is rather tight, so bringing big names to the club moving forward might be too difficult.

Already Jordan Lisle is a name that would be of interest.

Thoughts?

roo boys!

Yeah I remember reading that North was paying close to the full cap this year...Not sure how much of the issue is having salary cap room or simply having the money to be able to afford to spend the full cap.

Lots of value to be had in the delisted free agents category, I agree. Nahas already this season showed signs of being a valuable pickup.

Lisle seems a handy player, I doubt he'd slide ahead of Black and Brown just yet, but he may edge out Wood. Whether we target him or not will depend on the faith the coaches show in these three young key forwards.

ziebell outta the goal square, reckon he's more a capable forward than a midfielder

Yeah good call Nigey

I can see both Brown and Wood as long term options.  Robbie Tarrant still to come back next year.

Will North now pass on Jarrad Waite?  Brayshaw paused when asked the question on talking footy last night.

Brown, Black, Wood, Tarrant.  Then Petrie who may have 1-2 years left, waite the same.  Not sure of the set up long term.

All are ahead of Majak Daw.  Would Daw be put up for trade.  Cant see him getting a game next year.

Honestly, don't think North will need further recruiting. This young side is fantastic. Yes they are inconsistent, but they have plenty of time to work on that, and most importantly they win the games that count. I think they are top 4 material (they've proven it; and to think only less then a week ago at half-time (v. Essendon) people thought they didn't deserve their finals place).

Swallow, Ziebell, Wells, Cunnington, Macca, Gibson, Dal Santo, Greenwood, Goldstein, Harvey, Brown, Petrie, Hansen, Atley, Wright, Thompson (and there is so much more). Furthermore, the players are so modest and likable (it's hard for someone to support the opposing team when watching a neutral game).

When I think of the league over the next few years, I think Nth Melb, Port, & Richmond will easily be the next top 4 teams if they all manage to reach their potential. I think the last spot will be battled by the current peak teams who will eventually fade (most likely Sydney & Hawthorn will be the teams that maintain form).

Incredible win last night, certainly will be an exciting team to watch over the next 5-7 years. I can't see them falling, they are definitely here to stay (just way too much young talent & the perfect mentors, even Goldy is only 26!!! & rucks normally play for a long time) :)

Ringo

Dal Santo has to be the trade of the year and proved why last night. Showed his experience and it was invaluable.

Dudge

I think North with their young brigade, are going to be a regular finals team. I think 4-6 teams are going to change the AFL landscape of recent years. Not saying the big clubs are going to fall, but I reckon the comp is going to get a lot more even, with 8-10 teams being legitimate contenders

What do all 5 of you North fans think the chance is of NDS getting DPP? ;)

Anyone elses input would be awesome too.

Thanks
