Sydney Swans defender Lewis Roberts-Thomson has announced his immediate retirement from the AFL after a 179-match career.

Roberts-Thomson, a premiership player in 2005 and 2012, made his debut in 2003 and played his last match in round six of this season, against Melbourne at the MCG.

Mailman the 2nd

Once in a millennium player  hahah

Seriously though, absolute champion utility player between 2005 -2012, one of the best there was at that time.

Completely deserving of his 2 Premiership medals, and probably should've got a Norm Smith too.

Fan Fav and cult hero. MM is right, should be a Norm Smith medalist. Never got the recognition he deserved as a genuine swingman.

i had LRT as the Norm Smith for sure that day. Absolutely played out of his skin.

A boy from the North Shore of Sydney whose Dad used to take afternoons off work to go and watch him train in the first couple of years

You will be missed LRT. Thanks for the memories
