Press Release

I'd like to announce the re-branding of Scotland's Savage Sons. The team will now be known as the Swiss Storm after approval from competition administrator - Holzman. To help me take this team forward, I've employed the help of my good pal - Jayman. In order to honour the former coaches of the team, the best and fairest will be the BGK Medal and the award for the best player under 21 years of age will be named the Whatlez Medal. We're hoping to have a strong 2015 and build on the success of our predecessors and hopefully bring glory to the club sooner rather than later.

I liked Scotland though :(. But can't knock the Swiss, the cheerleaders you'll have are a welcome addition to European XVs ;).

Trade News

Storm give: Nathan Jones
Lions give: Brodie Smith

With our midfielders queuing up to get games, BGK medalist Nathan Jones was moved on by the club to let some of our younger mids shine and to bring in Brodie Smith, a young defender fresh off a breakout year to help our defense.

Storm give: Alex Fasolo + Brodie Grundy
Bashers give: Nathan Gordon + Chris Knights

Needing forwards with good ability was a requirement and we found that in ex-Bashers, Nathan Gordon and Chris Knights. The undisciplined Brodie Grundy and injury-plagued Alex Fasolo have subsequently departed the club.

Storm give: Brendan Whitecross
Titans give: R33

In this trade we farewelled injury prone defender Brendan Whitecross to acquire a rookie pick as we felt we could get a player less injury prone and with somewhat similar ability in the draft if we use the pick.

Storm give: Garrick Ibbotson + Kade Kolodjashnij
Wolves give: Michael Walters, Matt McDonough + N26

Hoping to add a bit of star quality to our forward line, we sought a good young forward and found Michael Walters, on top of this we acquired Matt McDonough who can play both ends and also picked up the handy selection of N26. However, in the process we had to move on Garrick Ibbotson and promising young defender Kade Kolodjashnij.

Storm give: Sharrod Wellingham + Jarryd Blair
Bashers give: R25 and N55

After obtaining Michael Walters and with the likelihood of Ben Brown spending more time forward next season, we felt it was smart to part with a forward in Jarryd Blair for another rookie pick. Sharrod Wellingham was on the outer at the Storm and was almost certain to be delisted but was instead traded for N55.

Storm give: Trent McKenzie + N18
Svalbard give: N4 + R8

While our back line isn't not the strongest, the value of the picks meant that we simply could not pass them up and given Cannon's injury history, it was worth the punt.

Iceland Trade: Alex Rance
Switzerland Trade: Hayden Ballantyne

After getting rid of Cannon, Tross was needed to bolster help out our other defenders while Ballas was expendable.

The Swiss Storm best and fairest will commence shortly. Votes are awarded through a 5-4-3-2-1 system. The winner of the award will be crowned the 2015 BGK medallist. Alongside this award, the best young player (21 and under) will be awarded the whatlez medal for 2015.
