In seriousness though, it's probably just to avoid putting pressure on it
You could probably do without them, but given it's proximity to finals, and that he's an integral part of Geelong's chances, then they're probably just playing it safe

Also, is this really news to anyone?
I'd be playing a rook over him anyway if you've got him (he's poor at Etihad, and even poorer against Carlton - check my Captain's thread for more information)
and if you don't have him - then it just means that he won't lose as much value before you bring him in next week
