Sandilands/Gibbs vs Rockliff/Gilbert - part 2

Is it unreasonable to assume that Rocky will average 120 and Gilbert 75? Would you neg a trade because of that assumption? Highly unlikely.

"Gilbert isn't best XV, so Mexico City are giving up 2 best XV players for 1"

Ramifications on Mexico City's best XV. Maric as Ruck.

Mex before: Sidebottom (c) 230, Gibbs 105, Sandi 110 - Christensen in reserve 90 = 445
Mex after: Rocky (c) 240, Sidebottom 115, Christensen 90 - Gilbert in reserve 75 = 445

EVEN!!!

The trade is basically when broken down.

Heeney for Laverde + mediocre player

nothing wrong at all

It may seem obvious now which player is going to be good, but its rarely the case. Jack Watts, Tom Scully, Jack Trengove, Scott Gumbleton... and even more recently in O'Rourke..

Langdon went in the 60s... So many variables.
We can say that about any player in hindsight. Rocky went in rookie draft. But all we can go on now is how they are currently rated based on their junior results and so far top 4 are streets ahead of the rest.

But so were Scully and Trengove...

My point is, you have to go with odds that a higher pick will be better than a lower pick.

Sandilands/Gibbs vs Rockliff/Gilbert - part 3

"Christchurch win the trade by too much"

With a 75 average, Gilbert would be my 2nd best defender! Losing him means my backline is even more spud. Sandi would be util 1, without him I would have to play Scully.

Chistchurch best XV:

Before: Rocky 240-260, Gilbert 75, Scully 80 = 395-415
After: Sandilands 220, Gibbs 105, Maguire 65 = 390

Even without factoring in the slight long term loss in the Rocky to Gibbs part, saying that Christchurch win the trade looks factually incorrect!

DO YOU NEED MORE???

Haha yeah I know, I get the feeling it might have been aimed at a Brisbane supporter. Not naming anyone though.

I'm running out of reasons why anyone would possibly block the Rocky trade. It shouldn't even be put up for vote. There's literally nothing left to explain so I might have to open the floor for questions for part 4 :P

Hey I know but seeing you value Rocky so much he went in the PSD did not even make 88 so can not use that.  Draft picksathough are a lottery as we know and hence why I do not think you can value them that much differently, Other coaches may have different views and that is OK. Hind sight is wonderful though.

I am just hoping another gem falls to 67 for Brisbane this year

"Feel that Libba and Harley are younger and average more than counterparts, and that assumptions over long term positions shouldnt carry as much weight"

Thats the whole bloody point of the trade

Gunston is a forward 90 average forward, Bennell will not be a forward- he is an injury prone 95 mid.

Libba will get tagged next year, his average will be similar or drop, while Boak will have a more experienced core around him to help beat the tag and I project he will average more- right in the prime of his career

Or was the real reason it was negged was because Dublin were involved? People seem to be scared when Holz makes a big trade.

Anyway how do we move forward to get it approved.
