Toga

And to think only a couple of years ago trades like that saw Sidebottom traded for a bunch of kids were passed... :P

Been just as bad trades pass this year, been some shockers that have slipped through. I don't feel trading has got harsher making more equal trades I can't work out why shockers have passed and fair trades are failing.

Hellopplz

If the Eski deal went through then can sorta see why the Mitchell deal goes through, how I kinda saw them.

I don't think you can win either way Holz, doesn't work when you win but when you give alot, still doesn't work :P. Should trade with PNL, we have a good record with not getting trades rejected :P.

Memphistopheles

It seems like there are a few people scared of how good Holz team will become which I can understand somewhat but should it be enough to neg trades - I'm not so sure.

Essentially next season Holz gets and upgrade on Boak to Sloane (114 avg vs 105 avg) and an upgrade on Zorko to Roughead (I know Zorko out-averaged Roughy this season but based on historical stats I think Roughead is better).

So that makes his premiership winning team even stronger than before.

So while he may have 'lost' the trade by giving up Nat 12 and Nat 25 as well this would be why I'm guessing the trade was negged due to the others in contention not having a chance to win (let's face it Dublin was easily the best team last season, still won without Rocky playing and arguably the second best team has just been dismantled in the recent draft).

It's almost like the Swans trading embargo thing the AFL have got going on...You can't trade in any more players because you are already too good.

meow meow

Did Holz even lose? He improved his best team, but sacrificed a bit of depth.

What is an upgrade of a 114/24 year old to a 105/27 year old worth? Nothing? Of course I want more than just a straight swap.
Zorko will get no mid time with the arrival of Beams, so most likely score a lot less than Roughy next year. I don't think wanting extra is unreasonable there either.

Everyone else has the chance to grab Roughead and/or Sloane for a similar deal(s). If you don't want Holz to get stronger, then lure these guys to your own club. Offering two spuds in exchange for 1 gun isn't going to get it done though.

Ringo

I can not see why some trades have passed previously as I think some coaches do not do the analysis some other coaches do. At the moment it is taking me between 1 - 2 hours to look at the trades and rule on evenness and fairness. Position on ladder and strength of franchise are only considerations if I am in two minds on the trade to counter the argument above.

So to put it bluntly I take offence at saying I have a vendetta against certain teams as implied by comments above.

This, definitely agree.

Also, sorry Ringo, I was only kidding about that and pretty sure JB was too haha, hence the :P

Nige

I think we've already had this discussion a million times regarding the trade/voting system, let it go boys.

AaronKirk

Maybe one of the picks Holz offered needs to be knocked off the deal or meow should put up a 3rd rounder to even the trade up a tad.

The trade as is in NY's opinion is weighted too much in Meow's favour.

Wasn't the worst trade though. There was one that passed that was a clear shocker   :-X

Master Q

The trades have all been decided on, so you can share AK  :P

AaronKirk

I will.

Trade 63
Cape Town give: Cameron Guthrie + NAT #9 + NAT #34
Pacific give: Billy Longer + Cameron McCarthy + NAT #59

Pick 9 is surely worth a lot more than second string ruck and an unproven player in McCarthy

Heck, Guthrie is worth more than Longer and McCarthy.

JBs-Hawks

If all trades were dead even theres not point in trading

No trade ever is, but it has to be pretty reasonable for both sides, cannot be a clear winner and loser in a trade.

Pick 9 is alot more unproven then Mccarthy! Whose job security got alot better today too. And Longer himself was a top 10 pick.
