I think all Essendon supporters need to sit back and have a long hard think. Where is our next step to move forward? Tonight's match was massive and TBH it has probably cost us a finals spot. Any discussion is appreciated.

Mr.Craig

One thing that stood out was the amount of uncontested ball they gave up through the middle. Maybe a symptom of a lack of two way running?

Mailman the 2nd

You need a forward who's name doesn't begin with a J

You're right but there wasn't much uncontested ball TBH. I figured we were hand balling way too much. Needed to kick it to our bands of forwards hovering around 30 metres out. We did turn the ball over a lot around half-forward and throughout the Midfield.

Rules out a possible play for Patton.  :P

Essendon's main weakness since forever has been poor usage going inside 50. They have some of the worst conversion rate ever when it comes to that.

Torp

Correct, I think they're also down on Inside 50 Marks.

Mailman the 2nd

I think Essendon are in multiple times in the top 10 for most inside 50s in a loss.

overreacting a bit no Watson our best player, no Hibberd either

Kommer also was our number 1 player for pressure acts in 2013 him out for the year has really hurt

three really important players for us not to mention Fletcher

i'm not making excuses for last night just saying this threads a big overreaction

Torp

Watson, Hibberd and Kommer would be big ins but we just couldn't keep up with them in the final quarter. They were running harder than we were. That doesn't just sit on 3 or 4 players. To be fair KB, we shouldn't need to rely too much on Fletch anymore.  :P

this
the worst thing for essendon is when someone like Carlise hits form
it works for some games like the dogs one but then in other games the defenders know we are going to him we know we are going to him but the problem is instead of leading hard and double back and lead again etc carlise knows we will just bomb it to him or even decides for us to do that (the commentators actually brought up the fact he wasn't leading at all and was calling for it long)

isn't it funny the last 2 weeks when hurl has gone forward late his taken marks not long after going forward (he leads at the ball carrier)

also some kicking for goal is pretty poor at times some weeks we are good (think it was the pies one) and some we are terrible (missed alot of easy ones against the tigers and remember the melbourne game?)

when essendon is up and flying they spread the goal kicking with the likes of chappy, watson.goddard, hocking, howlett kicking goals as well as some forwards (hence the Carlise thing can be a bad thing in some games as become to 1 dimensional)
