Would:
-Stevie J, -Bartel +Barlow +Macrae/Priddis

Be a wise move? Getting in Macrae leaves me with only $13k, ad Priddis <$1k.

Other options are:
-Stevie J + JPK/Barlow
-D.Swallow +Sloane.

-Stevie J +Barlow/JPK
-Sandilands + Jacobs

-Stevie J +Barlow
-Shenton + Crisp
Leaving me with $94k for next week.

Weak links:
Stevie J, Bartel, D.Swallow, N.Dal Santo, Dangerfield/Nick ROo, Sandilands,  ---- With everyone else a must have.

I'm sorry but is this the make the worst possible trade you can thread?

Stevie J plays Freo, Carlton, Hawks.
His last v Freo & Carlton were rubbish, and the Hawks are reasonably tight.
Bartel last 3 is 80, and is in poor form, and plays Fro, Carlton, Hawks.
Swallow's last 3 is 70, and he plays Carlton this week.

Sandilands to Jacobs is a clear upgrade.

Crisp is probably the best rookie downgrade this week.

Barlow/JPK are the top 2 averaging players that I don't have.

Sloane is the best I could afford if I traded Steive J (who should be bad for the next 3 weeks) and D.Swallow (last 3 = 70).

Which trade is the worst possible trade?

3/18 scores over 140 (league high), 9/18 scores over 130 (also league high) and a since-bye of 5 scores over 130 (also a league high)
in what way are they tight?

sure, recently they've been tight
but where are the premo mids from Adelaide (yeah, Sloane's not really a premo) Sydney (JPK, but he copped a tag - and McGlynn still got 130), and WB (Macrae a premo?! HA!)

Mumma always told me
Papa always warned me
Don't waste trades on premiums
FF Coaches always taught me
Never to get trade horny
Don't mess around with premos like Steve

If you don't listen you'll be in a shower position
If you don't listen you'll be in a shower position
If you don't listen you'll be in a shower position
If you don't listen you'll be in a shower position with fantasy

Ay you've heard about me right?
You know my fantasy rep is renownd
Your friends will tell you don't listen to me because I trade around
That's how it works though, the right trades will get you round
Back in the day premo trades didn't phase me though
But lately premo trades kept me down

cbf anymore.

Mr.Craig

Bartel has an insane record vs Freo, not sure I'd be moving him on this week.

RookieDTer

Thx for the criticism, I'll see if I can come up with alternatives.

Pommyadam-
As to why I think Hawks are "reasonably tough"
http://dreamteamtalk.com/2014/07/29/daniels-dilemma-run-home/
"The hardest teams are Essendon, Hawthorn and Geelong followed by Richmond, Carlton and Fremantle. "

Is but one example. There are other reasons.

See, for example, http://dreamteamtalk.com/2014/07/09/fantasy-good-food-guide-5/
" Hawthon and Geelong and Carlton remain the least generous teams."

Pommyadam - Macrae is (effectively) the highest averaging player I could afford if I did the trade.
Look at the reasoning behind Macrae being #2 on the Captain's choice this week-
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-08-06/calvins-captains-round-20
"Macrae has averaged 133 in his last three games and meets St Kilda this week under the roof at Etihad Stadium. St Kilda have given up the greatest amount of Fantasy points for the season, which indicates that Macrae will have a day out.

When Macrae has met such Fantasy fodder this year, he has certainly made the most of his opportunities, scoring well against the Brisbane Lions (139), West Coast (122), Collingwood (117), Greater Western Sydney (134)"

Swallow's last 3 is 70.
Bartel's last 3 is 80.

Surely it's tempting to trade them to Macrae?

You probably won't like it, but

If it makes sense to you - do it. We all started off where you are...looks like you're doing the right things and checking stats/reading articles.

Use dreamstats if you don't already. Useful with the fixture snapshot.

http://dream-stats.com/stats/player/fixture/dreamteam/113 is good if you don't use it already.

okay...

as Macrae #2, i think Calvin's read too much into the fact that StKilda give up a LOAD of points (and a few tons) - but they're currently 10th in season average to the leading mid, ranked 15th over the past 3, and 16th over the past 5
and their season max currently ranks them 17th (only WB have kept someone lower)
yes... they may give up a lot of points, but the figures more show that it'll be a LOT of players scoring well, rather than a few going enormous - only 2 midfielders passing 110 since rd14 supports that (being Cotchin and Bastinac)

and those articles are okay for general use (like if you're still playing rookies), but they don't take into account that most of your team is premos:
example, Essendon only gave up one ton when they played in rd18 (difficult right?), but he managed to get to 129
example, GC only gave up 4 tons when they played Brisbane, but they combined for a total of 630 (Rocky 190, Hanley 182, Smartin 122, Zorko 136) - if you make it past the ton against them, then you're very likely to make it a big one
example, Freo have given up 17 tons in the past 3 weeks, but only 2 of those scores have been over 125 (give up a lot of tons, but not many go on with it)

but hey look, we've both got different views, which is why our teams are different
YES, I have cherry-picked those stats to suit my argument, but who doesn't?

and for the record, given that he's only dropped below 90 once against Fremantle since 2009 (average of 108 in that time), I'd actually tip Bartel to do quite well this week, despite his obvious form-slump, especially at home too

I'd also be looking at Swallow, given that McKenna's said himself that Swallow's not 100% (but can't rest him because of his intensity)

Why are you looking like a genius? Pretty obvious trades for this week

RookieDTer

See the abuse I copped above.... but barlow is 79 ahead of stevie j....and sandilands is relatively low.

This is for one week of dt, everyone knew Stevie J would be shower if he copped the Crowley tag but it's a 50/50 risk and luckily, this time, it swayed in your favour. If you only went Stevie J-> Barlow I don't see any problem -as long as you find a way to bring Johnson back in- due to the fact both players are 'must haves'. You should have the cash though anyway, it's reached the point where we can scrap our D8/M10/R4/F8 at will  :)
