Which Swallow ubeaut.

David Swallow was subbed out in Suns game - suspect it may have been precautionary as injury was suffered late in first quarter but he played on till subbed. Physios working on calfs and ankle.

Pinched nerve in his Achilles. I think he will be fine for next week. Played on for most of the game and subbed when games was beyond doubt.

There's no nerve in the Achilles tendon as far as I recall - but then again, I studied my anatomy so long ago that evolutionary change has probably had enough time to change all that.

McKenna said he expects him to be right to play this week

Fingers crossed

I'd say they need him next week against Carlton & based on the below he should get up.

Swallow's left calf and Achilles were heavily strapped following the first quarter incident and he continued with an awkward running gait for much of the game. He finished with 11 touches and a clutch third-quarter goal.

"You can go and tell him he needs a rest because I'm not," McKenna said when questioned after the match.

"He's a competitor, a warrior, but (we're) conscious of looking after him short term and long term.

"He was certainly banged up. He hasn't been running well over the last month. For him to stay out there with what he'd done, and stirred up his old injury, (it was) a super effort."

McKenna said he was substituted so he could start treatment sooner and "be there wearing his jumper next week".

Get the feeling we haven't heard the last on this one.
With Mitchell potentially out I'll be swallowing a donut to keep the trade I may need for Swallow

judging by his comments he'll be fine, although I'd be wary even if he's named on Thursday.

David Swallow is expected to be fit for Gold Coast's crucial clash against Carlton this weekend, despite being subbed out in the final quarter against St Kilda on Saturday night.

The SUNS vice-captain sustained a lower leg injury during the first quarter of the 53-point win, but battled manfully for the most of the match before being given an early shower.

Coach Guy McKenna admitted his star onballer had been physically below his best for some time, but rejected any notion he might need a rest.

Thanks Rico, fingers crossed he plays.

I really need DSwallow to line up, I'm already covering Hibberd.

But so far, it's looking good:
