Daniher to undergo surgery

Following consultation with the club's medical team, Essendon forward Joe Daniher will undergo surgery on his fractured clavicle tomorrow.

Club doctor Bruce Reid said the surgery will shorten Daniher's time on the sidelines.

"Joe will have a plate and screws inserted to strengthen his clavicle," Reid said.

"It's not invasive surgery and the positive news is it will shorten Joe's recovery period. I would say Joe could be back within three weeks."

The club will provide an update on all injuries including its injury list on Tuesday afternoon on essendonfc.com.au.

Wow 3 weeks?? Thats too short, unless he will play with it in??

He's just getting a plate so 3 weeks isn't ridiculous.

They won't take any risks with him, I would think his long term health is more important to the club than a run-up at a finals series that may yet not eventuate.
