Speculation is mounting that champion West Coast ruckman Dean Cox is set to announce his retirement.

The Eagles have called a midday press conference where Cox, the club's games record holder, seems certain to call time on his celebrated career.

It is understood that Cox, a six-times All-Australian, will play out the remainder of the season.

Champion and gets yet more kudos for seeing the writing on the wall but for the good of the team (ie Lycett/Sinclair would've gone if he'd played on next year) he made the self-call ...  :)

Champion of the game. One of 3 players  had locked in every year for years. Great career revolutionized what a ruckmen was or could be. Great ambassador for his club and for the game. One of my all time favourites. Good luck Coxy.

As an Eagles fan he has always been my favourite player. An absolute legend, and I don't care if anyone disagrees, but he pioneered the way ruckmen play now

What he has done over his career is unbelievable and although I cant say he is the greatest ruck of all time because I didn't see Farmer etc, but as far as I have been alive watching footy he is the best
