Will be very interesting to see what Beam's reaction is to the Pies saying he will just have to play on with them next year but still think there will be a trade just a matter of who is the bluff master .

teams don't do that though
Eh, happens on occasion.

Port snapped up the late John McCarthy before the Tiges could and the Tiges did so with Banfield last year because Brisbane could re-draft him as a rookie.

But yeah, it's a rarity.  :P

Rarity? Tippet was like the first player that all teams passed on so he could get to his desired club and im guessing that was due to price tag.

There was more than 1 team that could've paid that price tag

Yup, I'd put plenty on that happening again if Beams really wanted to. Of course that's just one path he can go down, he may well just stay at Collingwood

from the AFL Offseason page

It's been revealed by the AFL website that Brisbane called off the Dayne Beams trade at the 11th hour on Friday, before Collingwood's 5pm deadline.

The Pies revealed that after the Lions declined a direct trade for picks 5, 21 and 25 for Beams and pick 30, Collingwood had engaged a five-club mega trade, which also the Lions knocked back.

The monster trade would have seen Beams and Allen Christensen end up at the Lions, Levi Greenwood and Travis Varcoe join Collingwood, Mitch Clark join Geelong, Heritier Lumumba join Melbourne and second- and third-round picks exchanged between North Melbourne and the other four clubs.

The deal had been ticked off by four of the five clubs, with Brisbane turning their nose up late Friday afternoon.

The deal is still a chance however go through, as the Lions will be running a medical screening on Christensen over the weekend.

What were the Lions giving up in all of that? Not really given the full story are we :P

GoLions

Hmmm depending on what we're giving up, I'd say that could be a good chance of going through if the medical for Christensen goes well

When was the last time we had a 5-club trade though? :o

AFL Trade Whispers

#whispers that Collingwood and Brisbane have agreed on a deal that sees;

Brisbane- Dayne Beams
Collingwood- Pick 5, 25 and Jack Crisp.

Fair?

Sounds pretty gopod to me! Crisp seemed like a decent sort this year I thought.

kilbluff1985

i had no idea about Crisp until he got games later in the year and i liked what i seen looks to have potential if given a decent chance

kilbluff1985

is Crisp best 22? i actually think he is better then Adams or at least showed more this year

If Adams could kick he'd be pretty good imo. I have heard Crisp isn't a great kick either? I just hope Bucks gives the right kids a go. Like Bennedy.

So trading has ended.

After beams and Harry left, they said we had $1.3m in the kitty (600-650k beams and 350-400k Harry + 250-350k free) and now that greenwood is on roughly 400k, it's fair to say we have a decent amount stashed up for next year. Looking forward to raiding some FA next year

Both Adams and Crisp had a disposal efficiency of 66% this year. Adams played twice as many games so had a bigger sample size.
