Eh, it was a fine line. Imo the only loser here was Beams, wanting to be with his sick dad
I'm not saying Collingwood are losers with a deal not being done with Brisbane, just that, considering what Collingwood wanted in return, Brisbane are winners.

It wasn't meant directly for you. A case can be made both ways

Do not care much anyway as we will more than likely get him next year and pies will get nothing due to the stubborness.
Wouldnt count on that mate. Reckon a deal gets done with another club now. GWS already speaking with Pies
Not too fussed, I consider us winners of this "no deal" situation anyway. If Collingwood can get a deal with another club that Beams agrees to, then good for them. If not, then I'll be laughing for the next few weeks.
I'm with GL here to GWS do not have the room in Salary cap unless they shift some stars, Sydney are not allowed to trade and Suns after getting Malceski are under cap pressure as well so if Pies can get a deal done that suits Beams then good luck to them. As Gl says if they can not we will sit back and laugh for the next 12 months.

But if he does go somewhere else, Brissie will look silly. Had a very good chance to secure a superstar
It'll be interesting to see how next week plays out

Big Mac

Would Beams still have a decent relationship with Collingwood? Or is he pretty likely to leave even to a Victorian club?

You keep ignoring the bottom line richo Beams approached us - We are not going to give up star players just to get a deal done.  As I said interesting that Hine changed his tune on picks when we well down the tack in negotiations with Cats for Christensen but that is typical of Piues offer something to make them look good when it is too late.  remember our first offer was only Pick 5.  And bottom line is if a player wnats out you can not expect full value for him as we found out last year.

This is what I'm wondering, and you'd think maybe the relationship could be a bit sour :-X

I'm not ignoring it mate, I'm just not undervaluing how good Beams is. Brissie have had a superstar of this comp who is only 24 say he wants to be traded to the club, it should have gotten done. If he stays at Pies and walks to you next year than it will be a masterstroke, but if he goes somewhere else now it will be a huge opportunity missed

I'm 99% sure he will be at GWS or Brissie next season. If he's elsewhere, it'll be very very good viewing :P

He's an RFA next year isn't he?

and if not, PSD?

Restricted means the pies can match

Preseason means anyone can get him

kilbluff1985

teams don't do that though

look at Tippett nobody else took him

even more reason why Brissie should have done everything to get him

That's the thing though, rarely teams grab pre-season players set on a specific club
