Plus you cant afford Goldsack how can you afford someone good?

That's just factually incorrect. Use your brain man, ball, qlynch, maxy all retiring along with stars from last season, we have plenty of room to move within the salary cap.

The issue was he wanted 450k a year for 3 years and we didn't want to pay him that much.

I think we will offer him about 375k over 2 years with a games based trigger for a third year.

Edit* I didn't read the above article but it says what I said above

calling me out for not using my brain after one of your supporters suggests poaching Sloane ::)

Wouldn't mind us going after TMitch (although he Is small), Frawley and Mckernan, Watts (not a joke), GWS players, Higgins, Sam Reid, Malceski

So why ask if he is out of contract then?

Don't think Ball, Lynch and Maxwell will equate to much salary cap when you take in veteran status + draft picks.

Well it's at least 450k a season ;)

Also draft picks don't earn much man...

Also Hudson, jolly, shaw, daisy and didak from last year...don't tell me that doesn't free up much space...

Then why is Goldsack leaving such an issue?

Reid, Sidebottom and Brown all got long term contracts that are probably worth a lot. Didak, Hudson and Jolly would've been on scraps.

Cloke's on a ton a year, its not hard to see that the Pies are close to capped

Well Cloke didn't sign this year and it wasn't a back ended contract. Brown would be on that much. Reid and Sidey again, not back ended and not this year, already taken into cap consideration. Didak and Jolly would not have been on scraps, they both didn't sign 1 year scrap contracts, they were coming out of longer deals so they would have been on larger money so it would free up room.

Daisy and shaw would have been on a lot of cash and now that's freed up.

I don't care what you say, any of those players you mentioned above wouldn't get a pay increase NEAR the cost of Shaws or Daisy's contract.

If you want to learn about it, I'll explain the situation again. here's the deal. Goldsack is not worth 450k a year. So we don't want to pay him 450k a year. We want to pay him less. He doesn't want less. Just because you've got salary room doesn't mean you need to give money to anyone who asks

Mailman the 2nd

Well it comes down to two things:

A) He's not very important to the team, which seems contrary to most Collingwood supporters. 450k is not much more than an average wage in the grand scheme of things.

or

B) Collingwood doesn't have the money. None of Jolly, Didak or Brown left this year, so why is my point in bringing up the resignings last year irrelevant? They were all big name players, well over 500-600k per year each.

You can go and create your own fantasy land where Collingwood has half its cap open, buts its pretty clear as day otherwise lol

Ricochet

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but they've also gotta leave some room to re-sign Beams

How could Collingwood have been in the hunt for Frawley at over 500k a year with no money?
The footy show and some journos (mark robinson) thought he was a done deal to the Pies at some stage. Obviously there is money!

Goldsack is important but not at such a high price! What is so hard for you to understand!

If we had 1 million dollars free, wouldn't you think that they would want to spend an extra 150k signing some young guns up for the future than giving it to Goldsack now?

IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY IT DOESNT MEAN YOU GO AND GIVE IT TO ANYONE WHO WANTS IT. You pick and choose. We choose to not give it to Goldsack because HE ISNT VERY TALENTED, hes structurally important.

Mailman the 2nd

Shows you how much Mark Robinson knows if he thought it was a done deal lol. Journos tried to convince people that the Swans were in the hunt trading Mitchell.

The truth is, he you or I don't know how much cap space there is, as much as we can pretend because . Just 12 months ago people were speculating whether Pendlebury, Swan, Reid, Beams, Steele, Cloke etc. would even be at the Pies.

They all (except beams, which is another 600-800k a year gone) re-signed, most likely to hefty 500k + paychecks. Guys like Didak and Jolly just don't add up to that.

Your teams is entirely young guns, Goldsack is one of the few experienced player you have left with Maxwell and Ball gone. 450k is not a lot of money.

Its pretty clear imo

What's clear is that you don't know what you're talking about so please stop wasting anyone's time by replying.

Collingwood supporters know that Didak was collingwoods highest paid player for many many years - and usually do not pay more than 750k as when the highest paid players lost came out (800k listed) there were no pies on it. (cloke now is above that)

If you search collingwood salary cap 2014 into google you'll find two articles - one from a few days ago and one from earlier this year where they said pies had the room to lure Mundy. The other says the pies have the money to retain ball should they wish. We know how much money he was on because the whole 500k bounty on his head when we picked him up. He doesn't quality for the veteran list because you need 10 years of service at the club. Therefore jolly didn't qualify either (nor Hudson but he was on pickles)
Shaw and Daisy freed up a ton too which you can't try and ignore.

The fact is, they have room to move.

Based on what? Literally nobody in the media has access to the salary cap details. Its pointless arguing with you because you think you're stars on on fish and chips
