Ben Reid is a jet, definitely not trade bait Imo.

Cambo

There is no doubting he is a Jet, but his body is not up to the riggers of AFL footy...  So trade bait.....

Should have traded him to the Swans when we wanted him. Lost a lot of his currency with the injuries this year.

Fasolo looks like bait to me.

So I'm the only one of the thinking that Frawley helps us?

We've already lost Maxwell, and Brown isn't far off.. Reid is better suited up forward, helps our structure so only really leaves Keefe and Frost as our key defenders with Langdon taking the third tall and Toovey the 4th.. Way undermanned, have at times been flogged by opposition key forwards especially against the lesser Keefe in spurts (Jenkins against us kicking 5 as an example after Brown went out).

I think he'd add depth to our defence, and adds a key big man we're lacking!

Look at the top four teams at the moment in full flight - defences win you premierships.

Sydney - Richards, Grundy, Malceski, Laidler, Smith Mcveigh
Hawthorn - Gibson, Lake, Stratton, Birchall, Suckling, Schoenmakers
Geelong  - Taylor, Lonergan, Rivers, Mackie, Enright, Guthrie
Fremantle - Mcpharlin, Johnson, Dawson, Silvagni, Duffleld, Ibbotson

Collingwood could go into next year with him looking pretty decent.. Would allow both Lumumba and Young to play up the ground too.
Think blokes like Goldsack and Blair are nearly past it, could be proven wrong though

Toovey, Frost, Brown
Seedsman, Frawley, Langdon
Young, Macaffer, Lumumba
White, Reid, Elliot
Sidebottom, Cloke, Swan
Witts, Pendlebury, Beams

Williams, Ball, Martin, Scharenberg (think he will play senior footy next year)

Grundy, Keefe, Dwyer, Broomhead, Adams, Freeman etc pushing very hard for spots (it's what you want)

How much stronger does that team look than currently? At the moment it's looking very poor.

Thoughts or am I being stupid?

You make great points man but it all comes unstuck very quickly because of one line.
Nathan Brown nearly past it? You've got to be kidding me! He's almost perfect age for a key back, and when's he's on he is awesome (ask riewoldt in the granny)
Sure he has had injuries but it happens. When we have him, we are a much better side and I would rather use the frawley money on keeping our youngsters around. If we lose Frost though (just sign with us frosty!) then we will need another key back.

Young is borderline out of the team. Blair isn't much better. Would rather let karny and fas run around at the moment.

Ball won't play next year either.

I forgot to add that I rather Sammy Dwyer over Clint on the wing.

Clint Young is my most hated player at pies now. Useless

Pendlebury to Real Madrid is what I'm hearing.

This is the problem.. Young is a good player and was brought into the side to transition the footy, as he's got a lethal booming kick on him that can break lines but he's always inconsistent and has probably had one good game out of 25 he's played.

Yeah Blair is useless and I agree that Ball is gone next year, can't get his body right which is a huge shame.

Another huge problem I've noticed is our transition from defence up the ground.. At one stage last night we had 15 defensive half turnovers to 7, showing that we fail to hit a target coming out of defence and that our forwards aren't applying enough pressure - Adelaide seemed to look to quick to get the footy up the ground, and always had runners alone meaning we had players running around like headless chooks.. Not many two way runners in the team apart from the obvious Pendles/Sidey/Beams who work their asses off every week. Not much support for these three either on a weekly basis, especially the first man Pendlebury.

Richmond had the same problem last year out of defence so we need to fix that quick smart. We also need to get a hell of a lot tougher around the contests, because as good as we are on paper we get monstered around the ball and through clearances, it makes me sick to watch.

Next we need to fix our forward line. No plan when we go forward apart from give it to Cloke and hope for the best, and hopefully at best we may get a crumbling forward who hits the front and centre and kicks a lucky goal. No structure whatsoever, and it is frustrating to watch.

Some players need time in the VFL in my opinion, blokes like White/Blair/Young and we need to bring up players like Fasolo/Grundy etc and give them further opportunities.

And we need to fix our disposal. It is absolutely horrendous and definitely not upto standard. How can professional athletes not be able to hit a stationary or moving target without any pressure whatsoever? Beyond me.

Few years pain for long term gain but it worries me that by the time that our youngsters are becoming elite our elites such as Pendlebury etc may be on the decline. We need to really fast track our players to be a contender in the next 2-3 years which will be tough, or else the period under Buckley will be seen as a failure IMO.

Where does Karnezis fit in for your future plans? Wouldn't mind him getting delisted at the end of this season just so it can look like Brisbane came out on top in that trade :p

'A few years pain' he says as his team bottoms out while still almost making finals  ;)

nah they are chasing Cotchin after seeing his goal on the weekend

Mailman the 2nd

Collingwood are yet to bottom out imo. Still plenty of guys more than a year off truly competing for a full season.

They've fallen positions every year so far and after the last couple of weeks wouldn't be suprised if the same happened again next year.

That said they do have an endless supply of staff on their payroll so they'll be back up there in no time lol

Pain as in mediocre performances like the ones we've seen in the last few weeks.. You know how quick to blame 99% of Collingwood fans are! Hahaha and also mate, you've got nothing to worry about with that star studded team you have, so don't come on here starting me ;)
