End of year Trades and Delistings

@ Wato if you can prove that Brisbane were approaching Beams during the season it should be taken to the AFL.  To my knowledge as a club member we deliberately not approach Beams till after he made it known he wanted to come to Brisbane and deliberately did not make contact with Pies till after the Grand Final as we did not want to take away from that event.

Speculation has come fro the fact I believe that Greg Swan has said we want to sign a marquee player in the next couple of years as our premiership window opens.

Agree there may have been some back room stuff go on with third parties but definitely not from the club.  Beams was on the radar initially for next year when out of contract  and was to be a target and then a coup[le of players got exited about the possibility and said so and this may have been taken as approaches were made.

Anyway back to the trade I would be happy with Pick 4 and Mayes but what are your thoughts on Lester.

Beams seems to have washed his hands with the Pies and wants nothing to do with them which is a bit strange seeing he wanted to leave because of his fathers health , so if they can't reach a deal where does he stand can he go into the draft ? or does he have to sit out for a year ? because I cannot see him running around in black and white next year if all deals fall through .

If he doesn't, not only couldn't he play for anyone else, it wouldn't surprise me if Collingwood could legally ask for all the money he has been paid under the current contract. (Not sure when he signed it, but if it was for 2013 and 2014 and 2015, the money he earned in 2013 and 2014 might come under question). Probably not, but this is pretty high stakes.

He could also get suspended by the AFL for draft tampering theoretically. Again, I don't think it would happen, just saying.

He has not handled this very well at all think his actions will only make the Pies dig there heels in even more but we will all know soon enough .

I get how all Pies supporters are going to want one of our better players along with pick 4, so as to get a fair deal, but you have to remember this. We're not going to give up someone like Hanley, Zorko, Rich, etc as it'll basically mean we gain nothing in the trade. There is no-one (that you guys want anyway) that is willing to leave Brisbane, whereas obviously Beams wants out of the Pies. Pick 4 isn't enough, but someone like Mayes, Crisp, Lester, Golby is about as fair as it's gonna get.
