What would you want either Ablett or Swan to average in 2010 for you to select them?

90+
100+
105+
110+
115+
120+

I would suggest that Ablett and Swan are imperative, because there are probably only 5 or 6 who you should be locking in as Captain on a regular basis
I would say they are Ablett, Swan, Voldt, Montagna, Boyd, Bartel and possible Goddard
There are a great residual players though, people like Chapman, difficult when perpetually injured. Gibbs will suffer a bit from Carlton slide this year id say, Selwood is great but cant be that permanent lock, Cox? will have a reduced imput this year, Mitch Clark? hard to tell
Any team cant really skint on an absolute gun, to do so is foolish and will cost in the long run despite apparent money saved elsewhere

Valkorum that is probably true. I haven't done the research to actually say it's true for sure but the numbers that Swan and Ablett were pulling during 2010 had never been seen before. Were Ablett's and Swan's 2010 scores a "flash in the pan" or are they actually sustainable? Going on past year's it may be more sustainable for Ablett but not as much for Swan.

Yeah, but AFL is getting more possession heavy every year, which is why the salary cap keeps increasing for Dream Team. So Swan and Ablett may not keep their averages up, but 120 like averages overall will be more common

Very interesting reading. I'm of the opinion that both swan and ablett will both hold their value this season.

Only thing i'd point out is that goin' back to 2006 i think you'll find that garry ablett was a decidedly average forward pocket/flank player for most of that year before moving into the midfield.

Yeh AndyJ you're correct. Back then there was a big question mark over Ablett about when and if he would actually stand up and get to the next level. But his stat's from the last 4 years certainly do show his very rapid increases in his average's from one year to the next.
