Is SMitch at D7 for cover better/worse than a trade in the hand for cover....?

As the question states; is it better to get SMitch in now, considering his bottom dollar price, as cover at D7 giving me 7 premo Def. Or keep the trade in hand to use in case of an injury/suspension.....?

Wasn't planning on bringing him in but his scoring history and low price is tempting me, would give fantastic Def rotation/cover......

If you have a few trades up your sleeve and a completed team then go for it.

A Mid / Def DPP in mids would be extra handy too.

Could you trade Mitch to M9?

Most teams have at least one of Swallow, Bartel etc so Mitch could add a lot of flex at M9.

I have 5 trades remaining.

Def: McVeigh. Bartel. Burgoyne. Hibberd. Enright. Hanley. (Bews. Georgiou.)

Mid: Pendles. Selwood. Fyfe. DBeams. SJ. Jack. Prestia. Miles. (Taylor. Acres.)

Fwd: Danger. Dusty. Parker. Buddy. Motlop. SMartin. (Shenton. Kersten.)

Plan was to got Taylor > JPK and Shenton > Gray

But with SMitch price I'm thinking (Georgiou > SMitch)  he would be fantastic cover for Def.
And then Shenton > JPK.

Completes my Def and Mids and I will have quality cover for both. However I still need to bring in Gray and would prob take 2 trades which would leave me with cover on all lines but only 1 trade left.....

It all depends on your aims. Are you in the top 200? If not hen you should be aiming for league wins and having trades up your sleeve wins leagues.

I think your DEF is passable without being fantastic, but your mids need work. My advice would be to get JPK and sit on that for now.

Fwds could use an upgrade, but with martin outscoring most you might as well leave him there.

Rucks are Sandi and NicNat. Thurlow as emerg allows SMartin to swing in to cover rucks.

Only going for leagues but would still like to climb the proverbial rungs as much as possible while I'm at it.

Plenty of cash: $584,300.

with that much cash you need to use it. taylor to jpk, but you should be able to go boomer instead of gray?

I could just forget about SMitch altogether and get in any combination of JPK/Rocky/Harvey/Gray.
If I go the most expensive combo of Rocky and Harvey I still have $79,000 and 3 trades remaining to cover for any injuries.....

Might make it JPK/Harvey. Not keen on paying top dollar for Rocky, every time I've paid top dollar for a player I get burned....

Great question. I would say it relates largely to the number of weeks players in your back line miss. My gut feel is that if its one or less then it would be a slightly bad trade, if its two or more its a very good trade. Obviously you dont know this and have to take an educated guess. Hibbered is probably the main risk given hes had some niggles. Not sure bout resting, havent looked at the draw, but I think there wont be much resting going on this year.

I think you have maybe just enough trades to do it. I have pretty much the exact same trades but no cover for niknat so a bit risky in my case.

Also depends largely on what your trying to do, because of the extra points from having Mitchell on field and loophole I would say...

Going for overall - Tick, probably extra points
Going for league need to win close remaining games - Tick, might get you across the line
Going for league in safe ladder position - Cross, trades too valuable during finals
