With a 20% discount Rich will be bang on 350K. There's others in that range that I'd prefer.

I don't think Wallis will tag next year and he's every chance of averaging 85+ again.

Wells with 10% off will be about 10K more than Rich with much higher upside IMO.

Josh Kelly averaged 78 unsubbed and is an absolute gun, GWS have a nice run early too.

Remember Rich was only moved to HB this season and was looking good prior to injury.  Averaged 90 for first 2 games against quality teams Hawthorn and Geelong from 80% TOG.

Daniel Rich Leppa moved him back to help him shake tag and was showing good signs.  Whether he will keep him at HB with the introduction of Beams and using Robinson as a tag blocker remains to be seen. Will monitor pre season and will have a look for myself at game at Burpengary. may even have a weekend at Coffs Harbour.

Price will be a consideration if closer to $350k will weigh heavily against but if closer to $300k then strong consideration.  ATM have both Wells and Rich in draft team but both will not stay there.

It's just impossible to tell off those 2 games if he woulld be any good at half back I think. It's very common for players to have a good first few games in a new position, then start to struggle once teams are aware how they are being used. Then sometimes they explode and become premiums off the back line. Its another risk.

Agree mate. Which is why I'm fairly cautious on Rich

To be honest I am expecting Hanley and Rich to interchange a lot during the game and the tag will go to the one playing in the centre,

Every year we get a bunch of mid priced mids roll around due to previous years injury, and in most cases they are always a flop

Guns and rookies is the way to go

I cant think of any great discounted mid pick ups over recent years

Those who started with Daisy last year will attest Im sure :P

A cheap/fallen defender or forward is worth the shot in most cases, but I just cant think of any instance where the fallen mid worked

Brent Moloney was alright a couple of years ago.

Saying that I won't be starting fallen mids. Not worth it,

RaisyDaisy

He was alright at best, but I would rate him as a fail overall

Use the 200k you save from a fallen mid and put it towards bolstering up your forward line or back line as that is where there are always so many less rookies available, and better value for money mid pricers imo

That's why I won't be starting fallen mids again. GNR in the mids.

JBs-Hawks

Swanny woulda broken the trend but they had to go and break him and make him a forward.

He is a super premo, so I wouldn't class him with all the other fallen mids that usually pop up every year

Since we don't know prices yet it is difficult, but I will be curious to see who is similarly priced. When I did well a couple of years ago Moloney was pretty instrumental in that. I also got lucky and traded him the week he flopped and brought in Griffen the week he smashed Port (scored over 170). If there is a guy priced mid 300's and you think he can get up to 500k by before the byes they could very well be worth it

You aren't intending to keep these guys, you want them as early stepping stones to premium mids. Moloney was perfect for his role, he was a money maker that was averaging 100 and a quick stepping stone to a premium mid. Without Moloney there was no way I could have got Griff in the week he went nuts. After that game everyone was selling the farm to try and get Griff in while I had a nice price rise and didn't have to worry about it. If you hit on the right mid price option it can give you a huge advantage, but there is no point in going for a guy that can't push towards a ton or forget about it. The two other guys are Kieren Jack and Lenny Hayes over the last couple of years. I started all of them and didn't regret it. Lenny bounced back for a 102 off his ACL and Jack bounced back after being priced in the high 300's for a 111.6 average after having the shoulder issue.

I forgot about Daniel Wells until meow mentioned him earlier, without seeing a list of guys or actually anywhere near the preseason comps it makes it crazy to start talking about locking guys in, but I used Wells the same way when he was cheap a few years back. He dominated after starting in the 300's and I was able to trade him to a premium when he had some injury concerns. There will be a list of 3 or 4 guys and I will probably take 1 so I can afford one of the more expensive rookies instead of rolling the dice on a guy that will be cheap, get named round 1, get the vest and then dropped for 3 weeks

Mcrae last year was like 300k. There has been plenty. Just more often than not they flop. You just gota pick the right ones and not too many of them

Shiels could have also been that guy if he didn't get injured
