Not sure how people can even think about not starting goldy after his last few months.

Liam McBean is one to keep close tabs on, if he gets DPP status he will be a lock in my side.

Played exclusively forward so doubt that will be happening, probably still needs another 10kgs before he can be competitive in the ruck

Probably because of the first few months of the season... TBH I'm definitely going cheap in rucks, picking a second ruck this year was really hard (assuming everyone got Sandi as R1/R2). Hickey was a great choice until injured, Hampson was another good one, and I stand by my observation at the start of the year that no-one other than Cox has ever backed up a top 5 position year upon year (Roughy now a fwd only, he did it too). Goldy has just cracked the top 5 now but Sauce, Mummy, Sandi have been the standouts for the year.

Based on average ppg, 2014 (current) top 5:
Mumford
Sauce
Sandi
S.Mart
Goldy

2013 top 5:
Minson
Goldy
Cox
Roughy
McEvoy

2012 top 5:
NicNat
Maric
Cox
Roughy
Sauce

Even then there have always been the top 2/3 who've been head and shoulders above the rest eg 2012 Cox avg 112, Roughy 104, and 2013 Cox 107, Roughy 98.5, in both case 3rd to 4th was a fair drop.

Value picks are where it's at, as in Berger 2013, Maric/NicNat 2012.

Goldy is essentially top 3 because of how many games Mummy and Martin have missed IMO

Naitanui Leuey and Kreuzer.
I have a feeling Leuey will spend more time forward, with Martin doing well this year. Stay away!
Surely a fit Leuey is still #1 at Brissie

makes more sense to play him forward imo let Martin ruck

they need a tall forward and Martin is doing a great job

yeh but a fit Leuey would still be the #1 ruck

kilbluff1985

yeah not if i was coaching i'd turn him into a forward, nrich and Ringo have said similar

Ricochet

yeh i don't see it. Not as a permanent forward

would be relieving Martin

i just think Martin is to good not to play so i think Luey could make a good forward and leave Martin in his best position

so Ric do u leave him out or?

Leuey's best position is ruck as well though. I can't see Leuey getting less than 40% ruck time at the absolute worst. Yes, he can play well up forward, but if we're gonna play him forward most of the game we may as well not play him at all, and give someone like Smith or Michael games as 2nd ruck to Martin. Obviously that wouldn't happen though.

They'd try and make Martin a fwd before Leuey. He is the number 1 ruckman. And if Martin was no good as a fwd and 2 ruckman wouldn't work then yes I would leave Martin out for Leuey.
It'd be like Richmond turning Maric into a fwd this year because he missed most of the start of the year and Hampson was do well while Maric was out. It just wouldn't happen

From the weekend -

Tim Clarke says:

Liam McBean
4 goals, 12 disposals (9 contested), 3 marks
Another solid game in terms of scoreboard involvement. Played in the ruck due to Shaun Hampsons late injury, which was a new role for him. It helped him get more contested possessions up the ground but we still want him marking the ball. Took three but we want that number to be seven to ten.
