Western Bulldogs defender Tom Williams has announced his retirement from senior football, effective immediately. Williams played 85 games spanning over an injury riddled 10 year career at the Dogs.

Pretty young retirement at 27, shame to see him lost his career to injuries.

Damn, this is such a shame.

I really liked seeing him go at it when he was up and about and obviously not injured, he was able to play some really good football. He was definitely best 22 for the Dogs but injuries were so damn persistent.

Such a shame to see careers cut short by injury. Especially guys that are clearly talented

So he was taken the pick after Buddy in the 2004 draft. Buddy still has 8 more years to play...

Really sad to see this. I really enjoyed watching Williams play when he wasn't injured. He was quite a good lock-down key defender, and he provided a good contest up forward too.

I remember Mooney talking about Williams on AFL 360. Unlucky to retire early especially due to injury
