I didn't hear anyone say it but it wouldn't surprise me if it was Dermie. Franklin better than Goodes is laughable

Sounds like something Dermot would say.  :-\

People are forgetting actually how good Franklin is due to his poor last year at Hawthorn and the whole leaving the club situation. The guy is a one of a kind and an out and out star of our game. High chance to kick 900-1000 goals in my opinion and in our day and age that would easily be among legendary feats. Consistently plays in an unprecedented manner and one in which will never be repeated.

Vinny

Buddy is a gun no doubt but he isn't Goodsey, not yet at least.

Yet another interstate player underrated by the Victorian centric AFL fans/commentors. There's a huge list of them. Priddis,JPK,Sloane,Boak,Hurn,Hanley,Jack,Hannebery,Gray the list goes on.

Even the greats like Pav and Goodesy are/were underrated - Was it Dermie or Taylor saying on the weekend that Buddy is ahead of Goodes in terms of indigenous players?? - What a load of crap.

Goodes has won Brownlows (1 in the ruck) can play on ball, wing, ruck(early days),CHF,FF,CHB u name it - Buddy has a lot to do before he passes Goodes - like take contested marks and kick straight.
BUt because Buddy played for hawthorn for years he gets overrated.

But I digress - Rocky is certainly up there in terms of underrated.

I think JPK, Sloane, Jack,  Hannebury and somewhat Boak are all pretty well rated by everyone, the Sydney boys mostly because once you win a premiership suddenly everyone rralises who's behind it. Gray has been held back by injuries more than anything, sure he's a gun, but he's only played half a year of reaaaally good footy. And tbh I think Hurn can be a bit overrated at times, has the potential but just too inconsistent at times, a trait the gun players can't have

Dermot's addicted to making inane statements and comparisons - it's all part of his intense infatuation with himself.

I know he's good. He's very good. BUT he's still overrated.

As I said if and when he learns to take contested marks and kick more accurately and has been around for longer and kicked more goals and perhaps won a Brownlow - then he can be compared to Goodes.

They are well rated by some (esp. people who play SC) but not by the footy public in general. And as u mentioned- the whole Swans team was underrated until they finally won the flag again. Before that they were consistently good without going all the way but not given enough credit.

Whilst I agree that you can't say Franklin is better than Goodes at the moment, they're different types of players so it's hard to compare anyway.

For example Franklin will never win a Brownlow but that doesn't mean he couldn't be considered equal to or better than Goodes by the end of his career. He may end up with 900+ goals which would have him up there with the best forwards of all time.

The_Captain

Can see him going 1100+ which would be insane. Let say he plays for 7 more years at 60 goals a season after this year. That will get him there. Its not a big ask either when he kicks bags like he is capable of. Completely different players.

I dislike Franklin.. But he is a gun. So is/was Goodesy. Not comparable really.. Goodes isnt capable of kicking 15 goals.. Buddy isnt capable of getting 40 possessions like goodes was. Apples and oranges people...

regarding Cyril

i'm not saying his talent is overrated he has plenty but he goes missing in games and injured all the time he is one of if the best small forwards but Bruce talks him up like he's the best player in the league

Bruce has nothing on Dermott Brereton. Dermie's infatuation with Cyril is scary. a lot scarier than Bruce
Nah man Cyril is Bruce's, Derm has a strange love for Tim Sumner(I think that's his name) from GWS.

No, Dermie is in love with Curtly Hampton.

And so he should be. He's going to be the All Australian half back 8 years in a row.
