Starting my planning - expecting the worst.

My mids are currently GAJ, Pendles, JPK, Rocky, Selwood, swallow, Fyfe & Murphy.

My question is who to bring in for GAJ?  Is it fair to expect O'Meara to pick it up in the absence of GAJ?

Currently got Martin as R2.  I could then move him to F6 (replacing McGovern) and pick up Goldy as R2.

Or should I go with Cotchin? Would mean Martin stays at R2 and McGovern -> Motlop/Gunstan?

I've got no bench cover in the mids (ZOB/Hartung), so would have to carry a doughnut til he's back.  GAJ might be back for our finals, but I wouldn't expect him to be 130+ when he gets back.

Thanks for your advice

Gaz to Smitch
McGovern to Gray/Parker

Thoughts?

Is there a time frame on the injury yet or is it just speculation?

Doc Larkins reckons 4 weeks minimum, depends if there's bone damage or not.

No specific time frame but Peter Brukner (some injury expert) said "it would be best if the dual Brownlow medallist took five to six weeks to recover, but three weeks should be the minimum"

Just speculation. With GC a chance to take part in their first finals appearance, I don't think anyone would imagine they'll go for surgery until the season ends.

So before scans, anything from 2-3 and 4-6 are just speculating, depending on best-case vs more realistic scenarios I'd think.

Beat me to it! Yeah typically 6 weeks, but for a player of Abletts stature they'll want him back asap, plus he's the most professional athlete in the game at getting his body right without a doubt, so 4 wouldn't be unrealistic

Alright thanks guys.

I'll trade if it is 3 weeks or more.

If its 3-4 weeks and you look a though you are going to be i be in the top 4 in league I reckon you need to keep GAJ. If you can hold on until he returns GAJ could be a massive POD!

_wato

3 weeks and he'll miss Rd 17 and 18 (two weeks with the bye) and he'll be back Rd 19 for 5 games left in the season. 4 weeks and I may consider to offload him. Down to 3 trades so it's getting thin.

Wingard could cover for two weeks, hopefully..

Hey ya'll! Im looking to downgrade Mr Ablett to either JPK or Libba(possibly Sloane)... with also 76K in the bank to upgrade in the Forward line. Giving Wingard the chop sooo... if i go with JPK i can get Robbie Gray but if i get Libba i'll gain BOOMER. What do you reckon folks??  8) Cheers...

GCSkiwi

For me, JPK > Libba, Gray > Boomer so easy decision really. See what happens with Gray and MRP though...

Welcome to the team, JPK.

I was bringing him in this week anyway. There goes my semi POD.  >:( Oh well.

GCSkiwi

I was waiting to bring in Libba or JPK to complete my mids and I've had Miles playing M8 with the idea of him being my M9 once Libba/JPK is in. Now I'm seriously tempted to keep Miles at M8 for a few weeks and hold GAJ. Will see what scans say.

Ringo

One thing not yet mentioned is the advantage of DPP so if you have Honeychurch or Shenton you can bring Danger, Martin, Gray, Parket to mids if Ablett only gone for 4 weeks.  Could only be 3 weeks with the byes as well. I currently have Martin as F7 so this will probably be my strategy.
The news on the scan results will be the most awaited news today.
