Luis Suarez banned for 9 games & 4 months.

Suarez's nine match suspension will extend into Uruguays participation at the 2015 Copa America. But the more important suspension is the four month ban from any football related activity. FIFAs authority extends to club football when they deem an offence severe enough, and as a result Suarez will be unable to appear for Liverpool in either Premier League, the Champions League or the Capital One Cup until late October.

What a joke, talking about getting off lightly. Protected species much?

Nige

Oh well, I suppose it's better than nothing.

Also...

Luis Suarez has now been banned for 34 games since 2010, despite not receiving a single red card.

Failing to see how that's getting off lightly

I reckon he should have gotten a year tbh.  :P

Kellogscrunchynut

I reckon his next contract will have a biting clause.

Theres no way they were going to dish out the max ban, even Cheillini thought it was harsh.

elephants

flowering bullshower. I swear this cow is like 5 years old.

Slap him with 2 years imo. Stamp this shower out completely before its becomes as disgraceful as diving.

CrowsFan

Anyone else find it hilarious that this was adidas' marketing campaign for their new boots just before the world cup started? Check out Suarez's pose ;D

maybe he is just plain hungry :D

Grazz

Agree with ele, should of got the max 2 years. This is his third offence for the same thing, biting. It's about as low as you can go in a sporting arena, he's learnt nothing from the past bans and when he really spits the dummy and looses it he can only think to bite people. The blokes a couple stubbies short of a carton no doubt about it. FIFA should have had the courage of their convictions to give him the max or atleast 1 year minimum but they seem reluctant to if the player involved is one of the best in the world, i somehow feel if this was just an average player and not a household name on their third offence for biting i think a much longer ban would of been given.

Ringo

I agree with both Grazz and Ele as well - If it was any other player on the their third offence they would have received the maximum ban of 2 years. Trying to decide whether the FIFA gentlemen imposing ban are Liverpool supporters,,

It is interesting though that the player he bit and complained has stated the sentence is too harsh.  WTF biting should be outlawed regardless.

I feel sorry for the team he first plays against when he comes back. 4 months with out a meal, that man is going to be hungry

Hypothetically:
If it was AFL and the player was Buddy Franklin (who tends to get leniency) and it was his 3rd biting offence, what do u think the penalty would be?

I dont think the AFL r ruling with an iron fist by any means but i think they would go heavier than what FIFA has
