PORT Adelaide is among a number of clubs circling out-of-contract West Coast ruckman Scott Lycett.

AFL.com.au understands the Power, who have chased ruckmen in recent trade periods, have Lycett on the radar to bolster their big-man department.

Lycett's two-year contract expires at the end of 2014, with the 21-year-old yet to cement his place in the Eagles' line-up as he battles for a spot alongside star pair Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui.

Rookie Eagles ruckman Callum Sinclair has provided stiff competition with Lycett for a position in the team.

Come home factor? Also to his former team prior to being drafted @ the Port Magpies.

A much needed upgrade on Renouf.  :P

Jarrad Redden's been a bit unlucky with injuries so I reckon Lycett would get a good go at Port.

Ric posted the same thing in the Port board.  :)

i think he would be smarter for him to go to Carlton, Bulldogs or Demons where it would not be that hard to find a spot in the forward line

Why? SO they can use him as a back up ruckman to Lobee? Either way hes gonna be a backup. With Cox sure to go next year. At least he can pinch hit with us.

Not sure he would be just a back up ruckman  to Lobbe, Port also need another tall forward, to help out Shultz at times. This would also release Westoff more

We can pretty much assume he's going to be a ruck/forward, never #1 ruck regardless where he plays.

Kennedy is WC's only key forward (unless you count inexperienced guys like McGovern or McInnis) so he'd get a game as KF anyway IMO.

He'd be mental to leave WC as they're going to pay him more along with the same, if not better JS..

He'd be better off at like WBD as kb pointed out- they don't have a legitimate 2nd ruck option, and minson's 30 next year.

Yeah... But hes not good enough up forward to play as a kp forward. I dont think he would fit there mould. And if its game time he is chasing there are a of other clubs needing as Zip said like the dogs..

So if Cox does retire then surely the Eagles hang on to Lycett

It looks that way but surely the eagles can't play all three of Sinclair, Lycett and Nic Nat? They are all far too good for the wafl
