Lions and JB have announced a press conference for 12.30 today.
"The media conference will feature Brown, coach Justin Leppitsch and football director Leigh Matthews, who coached the Lions to the three premierships in which Brown played."

So the speculation starts. I suspect it would be immediately but deep down would like to see him play one more game in front of a big Gabba crowd.  Either way respect his decision as he owes nothing to the club as Leppa has said.

As much of a champion he is, IMO it is time. :-\

But yes, hope he plays one more for the fans, that would be nice.

I was surprised when he decided to keep going for this season, too many knocks on his body to keep going.

All in all one of the great forwards of this era.

Jroo

Yep, he's about to announce his retirement.
He's an absolute champion, as Ringo said, would love for him to play one final game.

Jono Brown calls it a day, an amazing career comes to an end  :'(

Brownie hust announced immediate retirement.

Great career to a close - For Lions fans get along to the Gabba Saturday night for a half time salute to Brownie.

Will post a better response later or British coaches may get upset.

Very bittersweet, absolute legend who would absolutely deserve a send off game. Retire the no.16 jersey??

Basically listened to medical advice according to press confrenece.

This may only resonate with older Brisbane fans

"Loved the comment that when he came up here in 1998 majority of Brisbane thought Brisbane Lions was a soccer team not an AFL team. " (For those old enough to remember Brisbane had 2 soccer teams in the 90's playing in the national competitions Lions and Strikers.)

He also mentioned he would like to do media work so there is an opening there.

Wish you well in retirement Brownie. All the best for the birth of new baby girl in the next few weeks.

Well done on a great career as one of the hardest man in AFL.  Well done on the Press conference and also the recognition you gave opponents. You carried yourself well.

Watch a short highlight reel here.  Pay attention to the pack mark running with the ball against Hawks at around the minute mark.  If anything typifies Browns career and hardness it is this mark.

Legend.

Went a year too long like Glass,  but a champion just the same

Bill Manspeaker

absolute champion of the game. shame he doesn't get a farewell game

thank you Browny!

Brilliant career, fantastic bloke theres so many ways to describe and laud Browny. Loved the way he went about his footy but alas my pleasure gained has seen him break himself horribly at times only to come back not change anything and break himself again. Says a lot about the courage of the man he only knows one way. Always sad when one of the greats retires as we'd love to see them go on and on but this is not possible. Thanks for the memories the great fantasy scores and the enjoyment you gave us all big fella and wish you and your family every success in the future, well done. ;)

Genuine superstar of the game. Sad to see him bow out like this, but I think we all knew it was coming. Great kick, super leader, big heart, loads of passion, a ridiculous amount of courage. What a player!

I'm sure this isn't the last we'll see of him though. Well done Jono Brown!
